2026 Photo Cascadia calendars are here! We have two beautiful editions this year, Oregon and Washington, each filled with twelve months of breathtaking Pacific Northwest landscapes captured by the Photo Cascadia team. The Oregon calendar highlights the state’s incredible variety, from rugged coasts and waterfalls to high desert scenery, while the Washington calendar features everything from colorful autumn mountains to the rolling hills of the Palouse. Printed in rich color and packaged plastic-free, they’re a great way to enjoy the beauty of the Northwest all year long—and they make perfect gifts, too. Order your 2026 calendars while they last! Use code PAGEADAY26 to get 20% off. https://pageaday.com/search?q=%22photo+cascadia%22

New tutorial! The exposure blending method I teach in this course is my most streamlined and successful approach yet, so photographers of any skill level can easily learn it. The technique uses Photoshop, and luminosity masks generated with the TK9 plugin. It's available on my website now!

LEARN HOW TO EXPOSURE BLEND:
-Sunrises/Sunsets/Sun in the frame
-Trees against a bright sky
-Reflections
-Narrow canyons/caves
-Forest spotlighting
-Night cityscapes
-Architectural interiors
-Exposure blend + focus blend & perspective blend

For 15 years, I have been with the Photo Cascadia team, exploring wild landscapes, capturing natural beauty, and sharing our passion for photography. For 13 of those years, we’ve created an annual tradition: a Year in Photography video highlighting the images, adventures, and team moments that made the year special. What began as a way to share our experiences with others has become something we look forward to just as much for ourselves. We love reviewing the past year’s highlights and revisiting the videos from years gone by—it’s a wonderful reminder of the places we’ve been and the moments we’ve shared.

As we enter 2025, we’re excited to share our reflections on 2024. Wishing you all a happy and adventurous new year—enjoy the video!

Same morning, three different moments of light: blue hour, early sunrise, and golden hour. This was a wonderful sunrise hanging out with the Photo Cascadia crew at the Hot Creek geothermal area in the Eastern Sierra. I’ve photographed this spot many times, but I think this was my favorite light yet.

The frosty purple brush in this Eastern Sierra aspen grove was an unexpected discovery. I’ve photographed this spot in summer, fall, and winter, but never in November, after the aspen leaves had fallen and before snow blanketed the ground. Whether the brush color was truly purple or a mix of red branches and blue shadow light, it was striking and something new to me.

I headed down to the Eastern Sierra for Photo Cascadia's annual get-together a couple weeks ago. On the way, Adrian Klein, Zack Schnepf, and I stopped to photograph a beautiful and misty Burney Falls. I had never seen it with fog like this before.
