Sunset view from one of our backapcking campsites. Mount rainier looks very different once all the winter snow melts and only the glaciers remain.

We watched the solar storm hit Washington state in the wee hours of the morning, and though our sleep cycle is still off kilter I can say it was absolutely worth it!

We drove to Texas to see the "Great American Eclipse" total solar eclipse in early April. This is a photo of totality behind a thin veil of clouds - the white ring is typically feathery and "clean." While we didn't get to see totality that way, I think it looks pretty cool this way!

After many days of driving through the Southwest desserts we finally reached Texas (our destination to watch the Total Solar Eclipse). We stopped at the Big Bend National Park on the way. The days were long and hot with clear skies but on our last day there, winds gusting upto 60 mph brought us this glorious sunset in the Chisos Basin.

Winter sunset at the Columbia River Gorge. The days are much shorter this time of the year in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) with the sun setting at 5pm. We hiked the nearby Hamilton Mountain after work on a cold sunny day!

Looking through the photos from our Canadian Rockies trip this summer, I came across this photo on my phone which demonstrates the beauty of the Lake O'Hara Alpine area.

We were lucky to secure a permit and explore the region. We were there for 3 days and this was the only smoke free photograph of the area we could get.

With the climate changing for the worse it is getting harder to experience this wilderness in its full glory!

Much of Canada reminds us of Washington, like this Sound in Squamish.

We spent about a week on the Icefield Parkway in the Canadian Rockies this summer. The landscape was mostly covered by smoke from the many fires 🔥 in Alberta. We learned that the best time to travel this road is shortly after it has rained 🌧
