https://austinchaney.kit.com/ca5058ff19 Hi there!

My name is Austin Chaney and I am a freelance photographer based in Charlotte, North Carolina. But wait, don't let that stop you from continuing our conversation. I mean, Charlotte isn't the only city with beautiful smiles and great settings. Now, if you're in another state, well...we can still talk. Anyways, I began my journey in photography ever since I first got my “new” iPhone 5 at the age of

15 (I am now 19). I was that guy always taking pictures of his food and setting up little photoshoots with random objects in the room. This creative personality has always been a trait of mine. Beginning in elementary school I ventured into drawing, dance, theatre, music, and now photography (Yes, I danced and yes, I did acting). My first attempt into the realm of entrepreneurship began with me and a close friend of mine. We both had a passion for music (more like hobby) and so we started our DJ business. I mean we even had our own manager who lived in Atlanta, Georgia. But, this went no where (meaning we never did a gig). After this mishap winded down I picked up my artistic skills and carried them on into photography. One Christmas, Santa (Mom and Dad) brought me my very first DSLR (which is short for “Fancy Camera”). This little guy turned my passion into reality.

A few years ago, I thought success meant working 80 hour weeks and “providing” for my family by never being there.

But one day I realized, what’s the point of building freedom if my kids grow up watching me miss it?

So I decided to build differently. I built a business that let me retire my wife at 28 and be present for every breakfast, walk, and bedtime story.

I’m not saying it was easy but it was worth every hard choice, late night, and leap of faith.

If you’re a father chasing both freedom and family, know this: it’s possible. You can build income and impact without trading away the moments that matter most.

Comfort is one of the greatest blessings of modern life… and one of the most dangerous.

Our houses, cars, and phones make life easier. Smoother. More predictable. But every layer of comfort usually comes with a payment — and that payment is often our time.

So we trade hours for money.
Money for comfort.
And slowly, comfort starts deciding how we live.

Not because it’s evil — but because it’s convenient.

The danger isn’t hardship.
The danger is getting so comfortable that you stop questioning the trade.

Real freedom isn’t about having nothing.
It’s about making sure your comfort doesn’t cost you your purpose, your growth, or your family.

Comfort feels safe.
But growth lives just outside of it.
