Its crazy how far I’ve come

A lot of my life I feel like I would get decent at something and then hit a wall. I could never get over that wall. So I would leave it all together. But photography is the one thing I pushed through and got to the other side of decent. Now lol comparing I’m like was I even good to begin with. Haha. I guess my point is never give up or something gimmicky like that.

Leading lines for the win 👇

So yeah, you don’t necessarily need leading lines in every photo that you take. It might be a little over kill. And I can definitely show you other ways to make your photos dynamic without using leading lines but that is for another video.

When leading lines work is because it LEADS (shocking right?) your eye to your subject. The lines narrow further into the picture causing depth and movement to your photos. If the lines line up right (see what I did there) it can make a picture frame for your photo.

Where leading lines work in your everyday mommying:
- your kid running down the hall
- your kid walking down the sidewalk to the bus stop
- your kid in the middle of a row of trees at your favorite park
- your kid snuggling with dad at the edge of the bed or couch

How to create photos with leading lines. Well it’s simple, look for natural lines in your landscape. The easiest is when they are both sides where you put the subject in the middle. Even if you have one line, you can put the subject on the line causing movement if subject is nearer to the camera or distance if subject is farther down the line. Either way you cause emotion, it’s just which you would like to create or better yet which you felt in this moment. This turns your photos into memory instead just mom clicking a button.

Why getting on their level works 👇

Lowering your angle works so well especially with your younger kids is it gives it a feel of life at their level. You feel more immersed into the scene. So not only is it giving you all the feels but it adds dimension and depth. Taking photos of your kids from your level can make the picture look flat and frankly boring. That depth also brings more emphasis on the subject of the photo, making them larger in the photo literally and metaphorically. This will give your photos a dynamic look even just using your iPhone…or android if you are one of those…
