I watched a man—a nurse—be executed in the streets, through a little screen in my hand, on a loop. It won’t leave my brain. I didn’t know where to put my grief and anger and despair, so I made art. America has always been a violent place— just ask your Black and Native American friends. It was never free or fair or just. It has always funded the cogs of killing machines instead of the health of society. It has always rewarded greed and power and exploitation— discouraging community uplift, for that threatens the very structures of capitalism. Keep people sick. Keep people poor. Keep people desperate.

But the gloves are off now, white supremacy, insatiable greed, and vitriol for anyone deemed other are no longer in the shadows— instead seeping poison into every facet of American life and destroying anyone that stands in the way. But maybe if something is so broken, so empty of humanity, it has to come crashing down before we can build a better world. That’s the hope I hold onto, when I watch innocent people murdered at the hands of our government, through a little screen in my hand, on a loop.

It’s heavy, but please don’t look away. Stay informed, stay vigilant. Evil wins if we disengage

Scenes from one of the most peaceful seaside towns I’ve ever visited. Purple lupine coating the hills, quaint hot springs, the smell of salt, snow capped mountains and a vast, unforgiving sea. A place that felt like home, even though I had never been before. On my second night there, I pulled over next to a field of lupines and proceeded to watch the sky burn into the early hours of the morning. I’ll never forget this place 🥹

A fall sunrise at the Bells 🌄

I’ve been to this spot many times before, but never seen it quite like this! Could not believe my eyes when the heavy fog lifted and the cotton candy sky lit up ⛅️

10/10 recommend putting a cake in your luggage and flying to the mountains to celebrate someone you love!!!

A soul-filling three days with and - we laughed til we cried, we cried til we cried, we danced, we peak bagged, we loved, we shared, we carried chipotle bags up the mountain. Inside jokes to last a lifetime and an effortless joy I’ll hold close to my heart. Thanks for being born, being you, and living in my favorite place on earth !!! Let’s run it back 🍄 ⚡️ 🚀

ICELAND PART 3 🌜✨🌍⛰️🌋🌤️🍃

Posting out of order because hello?!? I can’t believe this is my photo and I saw this with my own eyes 🥹🥹🥹

A mountain I’ve dreamed of capturing for so many years. I did the ring road counter clockwise, so this stop was the very last one on my journey. I had one chance to capture Kirkjufell, and I had to work with whatever conditions Mother Nature provided. My entire long drive to Snæfellsnes peninsula was low hanging clouds, intermittent heavy rain, and all the mood you would expect from a place like Iceland. I was holding my breath for what sunset would bring.

I set up my tripod two hours before sunset (lol) because I was not going to miss a thing. The afternoon clouds started dissipating to let the sun shine through, and I literally could not believe my eyes when the sky lit up and created this whimsical, magical, otherworldly scene that will be seared into my mind forever.

We stayed up the entire night to wait for sunrise, just in case another crazy sky happened. Unfortunately it didn’t quite pan out the way sunset did, but you just never know with Iceland. Better to be awake, than sorry 🤣 (sunrise slides 5-7)

If you’re planning a trip to Iceland definitely don’t miss out on Snæfellsnes peninsula!

Alone, in the middle of the backcountry, the silence is deafening.

I woke up from a half sleep to my rain fly rustling in the wind. 3:00 am, time to move. I thought, am I really going to climb the southwest ridge of sneffels.. in the dark .. by myself? Rolled out of my tent, the breeze was gentle, almost warm— a good sign. I’m not sure what I expected, I had gone to sleep with a bright moon high in the sky. At some point it had drifted behind the horizon, and it was dark, dark. An inky black where even a headlamp doesn’t bring much comfort— Swallowed my rising anxiety, deep breath. I can do this. Snapped a couple photos of the star filled sky, packed up my bag, and started to walk.

I stopped every 50 feet, slowly turning around to see if any glowing eyes were following me. Thought about what I might use for a weapon. My tripod? A rock? I started to play music, needing a distraction from the fear

I made it to the southwest ridge without incident, and that’s where the real fun began—difficult route finding, sheer drop offs, loose rock gullies, with the added element of darkness. I missed a crucial turn and I couldn’t figure a way out of my predicament. I was cliffed out on either side and losing time to make it up for sunrise. I almost gave up, but decided on a class 4-5 move up the boulders to get back on track. Maybe it wasn’t ideal safety wise, but I felt confident in my skills in that moment— grateful for the darkness to mask just how high up I was

After 2 hours, I could finally see the incoming crest of mount sneffels, I practically ran the rest of the ridge. I sat down on the flat summit, safe and grounded—for the first time that morning I could exhale… I was the only person up there in the quiet calm of dawn. taking in 360 views of jagged peaks, shining blue lakes, and a hot pink sun cresting the horizon from 14,155 feet. A scene I’ve wanted to capture since I moved to Colorado. Inspired, fulfilled, and alive in a way I only ever feel at the top of a mountain ✨
