My photography style is truly all over the map, so the best place to see everything is to follow my photography page (click" follow" after my name, go to my page and click the follow button again to set me as a favorite so you don't miss anything). I shoot infrared and astrophotography, the tiny macro world, and landscape in the Pennsylvania/West Virginia/Ohio area, so if you only see me on a specialty page or a local community page you are missing a lot of content!

NGC4565 - The Needle Galaxy. Shot from my back yard in Armbrust, PA under Bortle 5 skies. I'm still trying to add more imaging to this. This image is 2 hours and 15 minutes of data so far.

Just because I haven't posted in two days doesn't mean I haven't been busy taking photos! I've just been as busy as this guy! Sorry I've missed you! Here are a few springtime shots from around the house in Armbrust, PA. Yellow season is transitioning to purple season here as the daffodils are replaced with hesperis (Dame's Rocket) and fleabane. Of course, the dandelions are stil hanging on too.

It is a sad day in Latrobe, PA as we lost our sole airline at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. Say what you will about what their service was like (when I originally posted this image, there was a lot of hate for them in the comments), it filled a need and provided jobs for a lot of local people. It also brought a lot of people to the area who spent money in Latrobe before traveling to their local destinations. Spirit will be missed by a lot of people.

This image is from November of 2023 (before I was even running my photography page). I was at Arnold Palmer International Airport waiting for my wife to return from a trip to Orlando, so I took the opportunity to wait outside and snap a few shots of her plane landing in front of Saint Vincent's.

Tonight has been a struggle: I got a new telescope mount and 2/3 of the night has been spent troubleshooting, but it seems like I finally got the kinks worked out and I'm taking some new images of the stars above us. While it does its thing outside, I have been trying to sort my existing data. Some of those early attempts just really didn't turn out well, but astrophotgraphy is a very tough type of photography. There are a lot of struggles and failures, but we learn from each. I decided to go back and revisit some of my earliest attempts and reprocessed Barnard 33 (The Horsehead Nebula) and NGC2024 (The Flame Nebula). Sometimes we need gentle taps to bring out the beauty and details in a subject and my first attempt with this data was just swinging a sledgehammer. This was only 29 minutes of imaging, but even at that I was able to coax out some of the finer details of the nebulosity. I can't wait to spend more time this winter imaging this and the other beautiful objects in our night sky. Shot from my Bortle 5 backyard in Armbrust, PA

It was red and black day in the unloader earlier this week in Monessen as the crew offloads hoppers at Three Rivers Marine in front of the Charleroi hillside. I usually see the blue ex-Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel locomotive sh I had to take the shot of Red when I saw it working. (I've heard they have a third locomotive but I haven't seen it)

Here are a few more photos from last month when I went to Loyalhanna Dam in Saltsburg, PA. We only saw one eagle while we were there, so I need to go back to see if I can capture some more and see the dam with the trees all filled in now. I bet they will make some great infrared imagery!

Every time I drive by, I feel compelled to take yet another shot of Saint Vincent's in Latrobe, PA. It never gets old to me, it is always such a beautiful place.
