I am so excited to share this beautiful photo from our recent Kindness Photo Day. Isn't this family gorgeous? I mean, even the DOG is looking at the camera (though I have it on good authority the pooch was being bribed...). Seriously though - the smiles, the denim, the trees... Gorgeous!

From the time I recovered from my second open heart surgery in 2023 and got Alex Sakes Photography back on solid footing, I couldn't help but dream about opening up my own dedicated photography studio along Columbia Pike. For two long years I endured disappointment after disappointment as numerous opportunities fell through with leads dying on the vine & commercial property owners not willing to budge an inch on pricing or vehicle parking needs.

On the verge of calling it quits, I am excited to share that this Fall, thanks to
Josue Jehieli Bastidas & Kidist Eben Ezer, a door opened for me at 901 S Highland Street - a complex which has long been the home to the Ethiopian Community Development Council, Inc., African Community Center, and numerous immigrant owned small-businesses. It is with that in mind that I couldn't be more thankful that things didn't go my way sooner, and am grateful for each and every one of those leads falling through.

Today, I can proudly say that it all worked out in the end.
