Into thin Air
I want to start sharing another side of my photography.
A few years ago I was on the Technical Rescue Team. During my time I learned a ton and was apart of experiences like this. These guys train non stop to perfect skills like this to help someone they’ve never met, usually in a situation that’s incredibly hazardous. It’s also pretty fun too. This also still counts as landscape photography since Mt Rainier is in the background. Taken roughly 3 years ago.

Part 2
once leaving the jungle and the villages in the valleys below we continued our climb hitting snow around 16,000 feet camped at 17,000 to acclimate and train. The following day we would push to 19,000 in our high camp. This is where the high altitude really started taking its toll. 3 Am we woke with the moonlight on Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks and began our climb. Every step took three breaths. You couldn’t have asked for a better weather window on the summit offering views of the tallest mountains on the planet and a successful trip
after two years of planning.

1 Month in Nepal ⬇️

In 2011, I went on a solo trip to Nepal. My goal was to see Everest and climb Mera Peak, a 21,000-foot-tall mountain that offered sweeping views of some of the tallest mountains on the planet, including Mount Everest.

The first big challenge was landing in Lukla, one of the more dangerous airports in the world, located at almost 10,000 feet. The weather changes quickly, and the runway is short, starting with a cliff and ending at the base of the mountains.

From there, we would spend three weeks approaching Mera Peak, crossing through remote villages and jungles while dealing with adverse weather. The biggest challenge was the increasing elevation and allowing our bodies time to adjust.

These photos are all from the first two weeks of the approach.
