Whether it's a planned-in-advance dip kiss, a fist bump to a friend on your way out, or a bewildered smile in amazement that it's really done - a little celebration at the end of the wedding aisle is never a bad thing. Some of my clients have had the sweetest photos captured as their loved ones look back and smile from their seats 🄺

What do you get when you cross a grand church ceremony with an elegant barn reception? A dream Loudoun County wedding! Kirn + Joey couldn't have had a more beautiful day. From walking down the aisle at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Aldie, to portraits with Gus the horse at Shadow Creek, we had the perfect spring wedding day.

I couldn't fit it all in one carousel so pop over to the link in bio to see a tearful groomsmen prayer before the ceremony, a closer look at their pink and blue reception details, the wildest toast I've ever witnessed (bald caps were involved), and more photos with the iconic Gus!

Been a little quiet on the apps and I hope you can forgive me 🄺 Behind the scenes a lot has been going on for my family, including an ultimately failed attempt to purchase a single family home in our neighborhood - a process that caused me a lot of anxiety and struggle to focus on anything else for several weeks. The funny thing about being a small business owner is that the flexibility is a blessing and a curse. I'm so grateful for a job that allows me to be so present to my family and that I can gently set down during more intense seasons (to be clear, I'm still fully present to my hired couples and inquiries - just not marketing and all those behind the scenes admin tasks), yet at the same time I feel so much guilt when I'm NOT spending several hours a day working on the perpetual backlog of things or updating social media or submitting weddings for publication or any of the things that make me look as successful as the next photographer. So in case you were wondering, I am extremely human, for better or worse, and I very much do feel (truly unnecessarily) guilt about my lack of presence on socials.

Anyway, here are photos of Lizzie and Kyle that never made it on the grid - a problem that had to be fixed right away! This little bridge on the golf course at The Estate at Independence had the most magical light filtering through and it wasn't even golden hour yet. So so good. ✨

Happy wedding day to Kirn and Joey! So excited to kick off my 2026 wedding season with these two, and at two of my favorite venues no less. If our time together is anywhere near as fun and easy as their Library of Congress engagement photos, we are in for a treat. Pray for them as they embark on the beautiful voyage of marriage!

This tea party wedding inspiration is just too good not to share! The hanging florals, the colorful tea cups and china, the baby blue candles, the strawberries on the cake, the floral details in the bridal looks… it all felt so whimsical yet elevated. And the Catholic touches made it feel even more meaningful, which I loved.

If you want to see more of this dreamy, colorful inspiration, head to the link in bio ✨

There is a lot of discussion in the wedding photography industry about posing. There can be a lot of (honestly unnecessary) animosity toward one side or the other - that the editorial photographers over pose couples and turn the wedding into a photo shoot, or that the documentary photographers leave couples with a million unflattering portraits in the name of ā€œcandidā€ images.

But I like to say, why not both?

That’s why twirling photos like these are among my very favorites in any gallery. Because yeah, it isn’t exactly natural and unprompted. I don’t think I’ve ever had a couple spontaneously twirl in the middle of hanging out together. (Not saying it isn’t possible, but it definitely wouldn’t be the norm!) It’s guided by the photographer easily contained within the frame, and easily repeatable so it can be caught on camera without relying on the luck of a quick shutter. But it also FEELS natural and candid - there’s movement, there’s gaze, there’s often still the candor of laughter. And it’s something that feels appropriate for the wedding day, like it could be happening without a camera present.

What do you think? Are twirling brides overrated? Do you have another pose that you love that feels similarly candid yet controlled to get beautiful portraits on the wedding day?

ā€œHe got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to watch his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him… When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. ā€˜Do you understand what I have done for you? Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.ā€

On this Maundy Thursday, may we remember the command to wash one another’s feet. And if you’re inspired to live out this command at your wedding, you can make it an intimate moment privately with your new spouse right after your ceremony like Molly & Drew, or make it a demonstration of the true meaning of your marriage as a witness to your family and friends at the reception like Sara & Matthew. ā¤ļø
