We squeezed in a quick, last minute, mid-day shoot with the Griess family and wow! Seeing all of the kids hugging each other and goofing around felt like such a flashback to when I used to take their pictures when they were tiny. 🥹 Skye and Doug look the exact same, but somehow those toddlers turned into teenagers? Tell me how this is even possible. 🤯

I got to have a fun little shoot with the Wistisens right in my own yard! We caught the tail end of the fall leaves on a beautifully warm day. (Missing that a bit now that we've had some cold days!)
We love this family. They are just genuinely good people, and those are my favorite kind of people to photograph.

Are you allowed to adopt another family as your own? If so, I'd like to have three families from now on, please. Mine, my in-laws, and the Ritz family.
They are the most generous, kind, thoughtful group of people. Spoiling ME, even though they were the clients!
It was so fun to be able to hang out with them for awhile, even though it was freezing that morning (more for them than for me since they were all looking nice and I was wearing all sorts of layers. I did not win any style awards that day 🤣) and everyone was running in and out of vehicles to stay warm.
BUT, it was so incredibly cool to witness this whole family together. Laughing and teasing, looking out for their grandparents and the family's first great-grandchild. What a beautiful legacy Lynn and Jill have created. What an honor to document it.

I may or may not have meant to post these ages ago 🫣 I didn't end up narrowing down too much on what I wanted to share, because seriously, with a family this cute how can you NOT share a ton?? I love them! And then at the end the sky decided to show off and join as just another stunning addition. 💁🏻‍♀️
There are so many little details I love about this family/these photos that I almost want to add commentary to each photo, but I'll just let you look through and enjoy these sweet people that I get to call family. ☺️

Births are probably my favorite thing to document. Each one is so intimate and sacred. Being able to be apart of those moments, freezing them in time, it's an honor.

Sapphire went through a lot to get their baby boy here and that continued through labor. With a uniquely high vasovagal response, there were times when it was difficult to keep her conscious. Then she ended up having a massive baby in every way, which certainly did not make the labor process any easier. But she did it, and she did it while cracking jokes and making everyone else laugh between pushes. That's pretty fitting for Sapphire.

Seeing one of your best friends in the world become a mother, it was beautiful and emotional and just so, so cool. Knowing that exhaustion that I saw on her face, but also knowing the relief and joy that she was feeling, and feeling it with her. After all those years, she was finally holding her son. That's an experience I'll never forget.

I'll be sharing more from Sapphire's birth soon, but until then I felt like these deserved their own tribute.
Going through these photos makes me emotional. The fact that it's my own mother and sister certainly plays a role, but I think it's also seeing everything come full circle. Knowing how hard mothers work to get their babies here, and then how hard they continue to work every day for the rest of their lives. Constantly showing up and loving their babies, even as they are grown and having and raising their own babies. Stepping in and helping whenever there's a need. Even when it's not comfortable. Especially when it's not comfortable. Moms are there, in the background, doing the work. Sharing in our moments of sorrow and in our moments of joy. What a gift it is to be on the receiving end of that. What a gift it is to witness. ❤️

I had never met Reagan until her senior shoot, but we jammed and talked and laughed an awful lot. I'd like to think we became fast friends. 😉
Reagan moved to a new school right before her senior year. Most people would not envy that. In my short experience with Reagan though, I'd say if anyone can do it and come out on top, she can. Especially when you see how much her people stand behind and love her.

Sequoia and Sawyer got married up on a hill in an intimate ceremony that included only their immediate family and bridal parties. It was such a beautiful, simple night spent celebrating and dancing. I didn't photograph the ceremony (because I was in it 😅), but got some before and after photos as well as a few at their reception later on.
My favorites are all just of the two of them. You can feel their love for one another by just being around them, seeing Sawyer scoop her up from behind as they laugh together and catching her face as she watches him dancing. We are so happy they have found one another.
(That last photo was an experiment by my husband and I that turned out kind of fun.)

Kelsi and the Becker boys, as she lovingly refers to them (how cute is that?!), had a day filled with some of their favorite things. I got to just show up and photograph it all, no posing, just documenting the end to their summer and their sweet relationships. That's my jam. I could have hung out with them all day!
This turned into less of a preview and more of a photo story, but I just love all of the beautiful moments that come with real life. 🥹
