This is the tiny town of Kaplan, where we were taken in with our pets by the Landrys. A place we'll never forget. This is my first time back here in 14 yrs. I introduced Roni to Janette, and she treated him like family … as she does with everyone. He fell in love with her Cajun accent!! We're planning a trip back this fall, when Erin can come with us, and I'll get more pix.

Day Two: This was Erin's first time to Longue Vue Gardens, and both of our first time in the House! Erin said she felt like she wasn't in Nola, tucked away in this peaceful, quiet oasis. We were the only two people on the tour of the house and for 99% of the gardens!

The photo ops were more than plentiful, and I thank Erin for being so patient with me as I stopped about every two steps to take a pic!! Their gardens gave me a lot to work with, and I'm excited to choose three flower photos in particular to print extra enlargements for my bedroom.

The first leg of our staycation was Madisonville, LA - honoring my 4xGGF Benjamin Thurston, Jr. - the first lighthouse keeper of Madisonville. It was nice to see the town that he helped shape, bring up his kids there, and make a life for himself. Erin was stunned to see her 5xGGF Ben was born in 1785! She had to ask me a couple of times!!
On Ben's branch of the tree, there is much documented info before early 1600's England. This is a picture journal of a few spots, but I'll go back on a weekend when we have more time to be more leisurely. On a Monday, there's not much open! We did manage to go into a couple of thrift stores.

This is my first attempt experimenting with crystal photography. I walked over 10,000 steps from Alvar in Bywater to the Cathedral in the Quarter.

It was a beautiful day, bright sky, lots of people out and about; and my family being super patient with me, as I kept stopping to see where we could get a good capture.
