From warming up cool tones to fixing a paddock haircut and removing little cuts and scratches, it’s all about the details!

Did you know these two horse portrait poses have almost the exact same setup? 🐴📸

Here’s a little behind the scenes tip for creating two completely different looks with your horse!

✨ The setup: Position your horse with their hind end facing the barn aisle opening, then encourage them to look back toward the side or the opening.

📸 The secret: As the photographer, I simply move around to create two different compositions without changing the setup!

💡 Pro tip: For the first pose, I recommend using a step stool, especially with taller horses. Getting a little extra height helps you capture that beautiful eye and create a more flattering angle.

Sometimes, the smallest adjustments make the biggest difference in your horse portraits! 🤍

One of my favorite things about black background horse photography is playing around with different poses and seeing how each horse responds. Sometimes, the most fun images happen when you let their personality lead the way! ✨

The secret behind those dreamy golden-hour horse portraits? Sometimes, a whole lot of chaos. 😂✨

This pony had one goal during our equestrian photoshoot: eat ALL the grass. 🌱 Getting that head up and capturing the perfect moment took some patience, but you would never know it from the final image!

And that’s one of my favorite things about horse photography. The moments that feel a little chaotic during the session often become the memories you laugh about later. And in the end, you walk away with portraits that make it all worth it. 🤍

Because the perfect horse photoshoot isn’t about everything going perfectly. It’s about capturing something beautiful, even when your four-legged model has other plans. 🐴
