Finally, we've made it to the end of the Carmel photos. To be honest, I'm really glad to to have a lot new photos available for me to post on a weekly basis for the last few weeks, but now I feel like I have too much photos or I'm posting not freqently enough because I have all of these other photos that I want to post but I have to get through posting some of my older stuff first.

Sometimes, I have two very similar photos that I don't know which is better than the other therefore, I don't know which one to post. In this case, it's Slide 1 and 5. I couldn't decide which was better so I decided to post both, making sure they're not next to each other to avoid making things seem repetitive.
Let me ask you guys. In your opinion, which photo is better, Slide 1 or 5, and why?

Here's are some pro-tip for shooting photos that pop or are a bit more dynamic.
I don't remember what the actual term is and I'm too lazy to look it up, but it has to do with composition and using foreground and background elements to create depth.
Take Slide 1 for example. Notice how the closest two row of trees are in the foreground because they're sharper that everything else in the shot, making them pop from the background. Not only that, but the tree branches also reaches out and create almost like a frame around the view of the other trees and leaves in the background, which I think even further emphasizes the depth of the photo.
Same goes for Slide 3, where the foreground of the trees and land frames around our subject, the water (which is also the background), putting more focus and emphasis on it. This, and the fact that the water is sharp and brighter than the rest of the shot really helps separate the foreground from the background, helping us gain more depth and bring more attention to our subject.
Sometimes, creating depth may be as simple as putting something less in focus in the foreground of our subject, like in Slide 2, where the the chain is in front of the shot of our landscape, but still not covering it. Just by the chains being in front of our subject, it helps make our photo look more dynamic. Attention is still on our subject because it's more in focus compared to the chains.
Of course, these tips aren't the end all be all. They're just something things that I thought of from the top of my head thinking back to how I try to achieve photos that pop or have depth, but I still hope these tips at least helps you guys out a bit.

One of the hardest part of photography on Instagram in my opinion that I think is often overlooked or not mentioned enough is how to post; deciding which photos to post, how to divide up a collection of photos into different posts, deciding how to order photos/slides of a single post, etc.
I don't know about you guys, but some factors that I take into consideration are like, for example, when it comes to the order of photos or slides in a single post, I ask myself "do I want it to be in chronological order and unfold like a story, or do I want it to be in order of what I think is the best to least appealing photos, or do I want maybe a mix of both?".
Most often, using this post as an example, I may put what I think is the best or most attention grabbing photo(s) of a post as the first 1 or 2 slides to catch the attention of my viewer and then let the subsequent photo unfold chronologically. But sometimes, there are photos/edits that I don't particularly like but think that it would be a waste to not post, so I would maybe hide it away as the past slide.
When it comes to this style of ordering slides of post, I think it has the benefits of grabbing the attention of viewers, providing an almost story like experience, and not wasting the time and effort I put into photos that I don't particularly like how they turned out.
Of course I don't know if this is an effective strategy to getting likes or if it's any good and I don't always use this style. It's just somethings that I think about when posting. In the the end, it really all depends on what you want to do and the effects that you want to achieve. If this style is something that you guys want to try, then go ahead.
And if you guys have any different strategies as to organizing your posts, feel free to share it in the comments.

These collection of photos from Carmel were definitely hard and not that fun to edit, but I do like how many of them turned out.
Recently, especially while editing the photos from Carmel, I've felt like I was losing my passion for photography. When I would sit down to edit, I didn't feel like I was having fun, but rather as if these were homework assignments that I had to get through and submit. Editing just felt so repetitive to me, especially when I kept moving the sliders and still couldn't get the look that I wanted. I just felt lazy and didn't want to put in the effort to make the photos the best that they could be. It really made me question what is it that I really want to do as a career or what is it, other than my friend and family, that really makes me happy.
Luckily, while editing some portraits, I wanted to learn some ways to improve my editing of portraits, so I went on YouTube and searched up how to edit portraits and that sparked my interest again. I learned editing techniques that really helped me get closer to the look that I want and make my pictures pop. I felt joy and accomplishment again with photography and showing people my work.
I guess the moral of the story is: sometimes to find or rekindle that spark, it takes a learning something new or a new approach.

With the power of procrastination, I present to you photos that I took from December 2020.
At least now I got a bulk of new photos to post for a few weeks now.
These are also the first photos that I've edited on my new computer and monitor and I just have to say, going from 12 inch screen to a 27 is really something.

I'm ditching my old caption format.
I haven't had anything new to post lately so I thought why not revisit photos from when I was starting off in photography back in 2018 of my high school junior year when I took a digital photography class.
This photo of some glass marbles that I bought is really special to me because after having been doing photography for almost 3 years now, I still think that this is one of the best shot that I've ever taken and edited, and I took it with my phone, the Google Pixel 3. The vivid colors, the sharpness, the shadows, it's just a really nice photo.
I think a takeaway from this photo is that, no matter what skill level you are at, or what camera that you have, you can still capture amazing photos if you just start, learn, and put in the work.
