November 14th is Diabetes Awareness Day, and I want to take a moment to honor my son, who bravely faces life with Type 1 Diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes isn’t just about managing blood sugar—it’s a constant balancing act, a lifetime commitment that he didn’t choose but handles with courage. Our journey to his diagnosis was long and filled with confusion, frustration, and fear, as we searched for answers to mysterious symptoms that seemed to have no explanation. From countless doctor visits to terrifying nights when his body seemed to be failing him, the road to understanding his condition was anything but clear.

But through it all, my son has shown me the true meaning of resilience. He faces daily injections, carb counting, and the ups and downs of blood sugar swings with a strength that humbles me. Watching him take charge of his health, despite his young age, reminds me just how strong and amazing he is.

Living with Type 1 Diabetes has taught our family so much about perseverance, patience, and the importance of trusting our instincts. We’ve learned to advocate fiercely, to always seek answers, and to find hope even on the toughest days. It hasn’t been easy, but we’ve found a new normal and learned that life, though changed, can still be full, bright, and beautiful.

Today, and every day, I am grateful for his bravery, his strength, and his heart. Here’s to everyone living with diabetes—may you continue to inspire and educate the world around you. 💙
