Saving the bay one Blue Catfish at a time.đŸŽŁđŸ±

Blue catfish are an invasive species in the Chesapeake bay. Last week marked the beginning of this year’s “blue catfish season”. I went out with and to document the process of removing these dangerous fish from our bay.

In Jay’s words “we are doing our part to make a very small dent in the population and raise awareness. These blue catfish currently pose a significant ecological threat to native fish, crabs and shellfish in the Chesapeake - they eat everything. All of the fish that we caught were bigger than 20 pounds - a testament to the fact they aren’t picky eaters
and remember these invasives are Malicious but Delicious”.
