It’s been a long time since I posted here, as we had an intense winter. But life thankfully feels settled enough to share a few recent, happy farm moments:

1. 8 Icelandic lambs born- this is Téo, who loves a scratch and snuggle.
2. Lucy is baking and had her first farm stand.
3. I don’t know how Killdeers exist. They insist on making their ground nests in places like the driveway, the pig pen, and the garden bed. (I protect them as best I can, but still…)
4. Levi golf cart surfs with his little cousin at the wheel.
5. Gabriel was gifted a huge telescope and we have spent a lot of beautiful nights out looking into space. (This is a non-telescope phone pic of the moon rising over the pond.)
6. We had some big pigs we needed to transport to another farm. For some reason a wooden crate with holes makes me feel like a 1940’s zookeeper.
7. Nicole from dropped off my first batch of wool!
8. The silliest farm dog.
9. The kids teach Nate to paddle board.

I love working with families that are expecting - maternity sessions are filled with so much anticipation and love! My evenings have been filled with meeting the most delightful couples (and then it's so much fun in the weeks that follow to see them at their newborn session with baby!) I feel so honored to be a part of these moments. Scroll to the last image to see the wildflowers that are in bloom right now! We'd love to work with you! https://amykimballphotography.com/when-to-book-your-maternity-session-and-why-its-worth-it/

We are registering students for our 2025 Teen Photo Camp!

I absolutely love working with high school students - they are artistically brave, have beautiful perspectives, and learn so quickly. One of my favorite quotes is by depression era photographer Dorothea Lange: "The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera." When I teach students to look through the frame, I'm teaching them to slow down, to search for beauty, to see light. We push back against the modern age of social media that tempts students to believe that image is greater than substance. I love seeing young adults connect with not only an art form, but with each other, and most of all, themselves. https://amykimballphotography.com/2025-teen-photography-camp-ann-arbor-farm-studio/

New life!

1-3 - Wild bee swarms! Nate (with Levi’s help) has caught 3 already and added them to our hives. Bees are remarkably docile when swarming.
4 - Ivy had 9 piglets, and they were sold to 3 loving families with little kids! The little guy who got this sweet piglet named her “Peaches”.

The newborn Icelandic lambs. Nursing tail wags are the best! Orla had twin girls, and Lyra had a little ram. 🤍
