Summer is in full swing and it’s the 4th of July, Yahoo! Super Moon tonight and I am heading out to capture the full moon rise tonight. Last month was a wash with the smoke in the air so maybe tonight it will be clear skies, got my fingers crossed.

Good day to everyone and what a day, still lots of smoke in the air so consider a mask when outside. Last evening I went out to see for myself how much smoke was in the air, WOW!
I decided to try for a sun set image but was disappointed I could not come across anything that really spoke to me. Still got the camera out and took this shot of the sun just before setting behind the trees. There was so much smoke in the air it acted like a ND filter. I was surprised with this image of the sun with its sun spots showing. Won’t make the portfolio but interesting to look at.

Oh please rain and that is what is going to happen tomorrow. My front yard garden has bloomed with all the wild flowers I planted last year. Eat up all you pollinators, It's all for you, of course it’s eye candy for me plus the subjects for the camera's lens. Here are the images from yesterday's exercises. The image of the flowers is a nice macro shot using a black pop up reflector to isolate the subject plus using the spray bottle to add the water droplets. The other images that look blurred were made using the ICM teknique. Once again my mind gets blown away with the results. Very happy with the printed images and they are now in my portfolio. Enjoy mother nature's artistic beauty.

So sad that here in Michigan we are still in drought and wildfires are growing. Please be safe and don’t play with matches. With all the smoke in the air the past few nights trying to capture the Strawberry Moon rise was a wash, only could see the moon after it’s high above the horizon and close to midnight. Now I did capture images on both nights Sat. and Sun. but not the moon rise itself, so as the artist I took the images from each night and created this image of the Strawberry Moon rising over the old barns as it should have been if the skies were clear and not full of smoke. Five hours in PS putting this together plus the five hours total from the two nights out trying to capture the moon, total over twelve hours to bring this image to print, enjoy.

Wow, last night I was trying to capture the Strawberry Moon rise but got skunked. There was too much smoke in the air and the weather front was just south of where I was shooting so no moon rise was visible. Now after I got back to my place I could see the moon was showing itself through the haze so I set up and captured this image. Enjoy
The image of the Ypsilanti water tower was captured on Thursday late afternoon. One of my favorite sites in Ypsilanti, the water tower has been called many names but the one that sticks with me is THE BIG DICK. LOL

Keep an eye to the sky, the UFO’s are coming. Lol Everybody seeing them, reminds me of 1968 here in Michigan with the swamp gas! Ha Ha Working on more of the images I took yesterday and here I submit for your approval one example of ICM teknique used on the barn.
Not everyone's cup of tea but I really like how this turned out.

Hope everyone is having a great evening and enjoying the summer temps. Took a ride out to the old barn with the American flag painted on it and got permission to get up close and personal. This is the barn you can see from eastbound I94 just before the old US 23 Pierce Rd. exit. I consider this to be real americana art. Here is the image I just got done processing out and printed.
