Getting everyone in one place isn’t always easy, but those are often the moments that matter most. A day spent together, memories made, and family images that will be treasured for years to come. The McAlister family have roots tied to their lake home and they gather from far and wide to enjoy the ongoing memories they create in it. They told me that their grandpa bought the land that was originally on a swamp in the 60s and built a home. It has since been passed down and created a space for their growing family to come back to, again and again.

Some families don’t just visit a location for vacation...they return to a feeling and childhood memories.

This beautiful extended family traveled all the way from Florida back to the lake where so many of their memories were first made gathered at Grandma’s lake house. The house may no longer be theirs, but the tradition very much is. They have found themselves back here together, now with this new little generation, filling the shoreline with laughter and new memories together.

Watching them reconnect in a place so full of history made me love our little corner of Angola even more. With 101 lakes tucked into this county, it really does feel like a hidden vacation spot. I got to witness this little slice of heaven through their eyes and it's beautiful!

Grateful to capture a piece of that kind of love and legacy.

I'm actually capturing the way she still fits perfectly in your arms when you twirl her.

The laughter that comes out without trying. (Oh, and this sweet Charlotte has the BEST laugh to capture!)

The season you’re living that won’t last forever but it deserves to be remembered.

That’s why I absolutely adore what I do!

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the perfect poses but I LOVE the real moments, like this sweet little dance with Charlotte and her mommy. These are the ones that matter to you later.

✨Why Golden Hour Matters ✨

There’s a reason photographers chase this gorgeous light!

It’s not just about “pretty light" .... It’s also about flattering light. If you’ve ever looked at a photo and thought, “Wow, that feels like us,” chances are… it was golden hour.

Golden hour is the hour just after sunrise and just before sunset. It softens everything it touches. Skin tones look warmer and shadows feel gentle. It can take the simplest moment and make it feel like a beautiful memory when it's in that golden light.

That’s why I refer to myself as a "golden light chaser." 😉That light changes everything! Like this image of the Ruegsegger girls ....it made this beautiful moment instantly become a warm memory captured in time. You can you feel the love and bond of sisterhood. 🥹♥️

One of the questions I get asked most often is, "What should we wear for our family photos?"

My biggest tip? Coordinate...don't match!

Instead of putting everyone in the same color, choose 2-3 complementary colors and mix them throughout the family. Think soft neutrals, earth tones, muted blues, sage greens, creams, and warm browns.

Adding texture through layers, dresses, knits, or linen can also bring so much depth and interest to your images. The Brown family nailed this perfectly!

But, remember... the most important thing isn't having the perfect outfit. It's showing up, loving on your family, and making memories together. ❤️

Some wedding days are beautiful because of the details.

This wedding was beautiful because of the Lord's presence woven through every moment.

From the handwritten notes, meaningful details, Bibles, Scripture, and heartfelt prayers, every part of this day pointed back to Him. There were happy tears, joyful laughter, and a groom who absolutely adored his bride. Every detail was thoughtfully planned and filled with purpose, reflecting the love and care that went into this special day.

As the sun set over Grandpa's pond and we captured the sweetest portraits, I couldn't help but feel grateful to witness such a beautiful beginning.
