y will hate it. Some will deny that it is legal period! I'll do my best to explain how the Law works according to the DNR:
(IC 35-31.5-2-342.3 states that a drone may not be used to aid a hunter in the "TAKING" of a wild animal. The definition of "TAKING" is described in this Law as "KILLING". Since the "TAKING/KILLING" of the wild animal has already been completed (or to the best of the hunters knowledge), the drone is therefore only allowed to be used to find a DEAD deer. This is the part that can get CONFUSING......If the drone pilot locates a wild animal (deer) that is NOT dead, the pilot must stop the search and may not inform the hunter of the wounded animals immediate location. If the hunter knows the immediate location of the wounded deer, the drone pilot would then be considered aiding in the location of the deer for the hunter to "TAKE/KILL". CONFUSED YET????!! With any law that changes, it will take a few years to get used to, but I believe being able to recover your dead deer will be GREAT for the sport and for the respect for the animal itself. The best advice is to hire a licensed pilot who knows the exact Law in what State they are flying in. They all vary. Paying an unlicensed pilot may also get you a HEFTY fine from the FAA!!
