I originally posted this bear calling it the star bears of Denali National Park talking about how the bears carried the stars on their back during the summer and would release them back into the sky as they prepared to hibernate for the winter, well the stars are out, so I would assume the bears are getting ready to head for their winter rest as the snow attempts to take over the ground. Snow has already covered our mountain peaks and is creeping down towards the base every day as the temperatures drop in preparation for winter.

Seward beaches are always a treat you never know what you will find along the beach, this jelly fish had washed up on the beach, if you go out to Lowell Point at low tide and explore the tide pools and low tides there are so many little creatures you can find in the water and under the rocks. Please remember if you lift up a rock to look underneath it to gently put it back where you find it to preserve the little eco system that lives under the rock. I took my son once at low tide and the Sea lift center was out there looking for new things for the touch tank, they found a pacific octopus living in the rocks.

Eklutna tailrace, always is an amazing place to stop when visiting Alaska, you can come here in the summer and fish for kings and silvers, walk the path in the center and venture into the woods to see the old cars that support that back bank in this photograph. In the winter photographers come here to chase the Northern lights looking for that shot with Pioneer Peak in the background as this water never freezes in the winter.

I cannot tell you how hard I worked to try and capture the glimmer of pyrite in this quartz rock down on Captain Cook state park beach this summer. I roamed this beach for a few hours looking for different compositions amongst the rock formations that litter the beach, but this is a silt beach, which means while I looks like you can walk on it you cannot as you will sink into the mud.

I know the mountains on the right are the Chugiak mountains, I am not sure what the Hatcher pass mountains on the right belong to. Just love this wide-open view of the mountains looking away from Anchorage, it is an invitation to run away from the city I live in.

This is a photograph from Lower Summit Lake that I caught at dusk on my way home, loved the reflection of the cabins with the fall colors and moody clouds. This lake is always a great place to stop when the water is calm it always delivers an amazing Alaskan view.
