At Eagle Eye Pictures, we like animals, wild or domestic. Here's one that's making news: Now, dressing a horse in a sport coat is just plain silly. But, hey! We've got to admit, he's looking' pretty good!

The world's first Harris Tweed suit designed specifically for a race horse has been revealed by 20-time champion jockey Sir Anthony McCoy ahead of this year's Cheltenham Festival. The new equestrian fashion range, modelled by veteran race horse Morestead, features … Continue reading →

When Eagles Collide

Bald eagles, like people, sometimes have disputes. When eagles disagree in mid-air, the result can be startling. Here's an interesting story about a "crash" at the Duluth International Airport that did not involve any airplanes:

There was a crash landing Sunday at the Duluth International Airport, but it didn’t involve airplanes. Rather, it was two bald eagles, which were fighting [...]

A Hawk Flies Into An Eagles' Nest: Big, BIG MISTAKE:

Remember the song, "The Eagle and the Hawk"? Well, this incident definately isn't what John Denver was singing about. A startling video clip shows what happens when a hawk tries to invade an eagles' aerie. Warning: It isn't fun and games.

Zoo Eagle Returns Home After 3-Day Fly-About

A 25 year old eagle with a history of escaping is back home again at the Palo Alto Zoo. The video shows "Sequoia" being coaxed from a tree after a 3-day vacation from its handlers at the zoo.

Thanks to those of you who took a moment to "like" my northern lights photo in the November issue of Sunset Magazine.

Note: The online edition of Sunset shows a small, cropped version of the photo. The print edition actually features a large, 2-page photo spread. In photographer's jargon, a single photo that fully spans 2 pages is known as a "double-truck." Needless to say, photographers like when their work is displayed as a double-truck.

(Thanks also to my wife, Ellen Anderson, who updates the Eagle Eye Pictures page. Her FaceBook skills help to keep me from being a social networking hermit. --Cary Anderson)

Have you ever seen the northern lights?

STREET FIGHT, ALASKA-STYLE:

In Alaska's largest city, finding a moose grazing or napping in your front yard is not unusual. It's one of the reasons we love this amazing place. Even though we see moose around town fairly often, occasionally in the yard, here's an impressive sight we seldom get to see:

Caught on Tape: Halibut Frolicking Undersea

Some of you told us you missed Cary's underwater halibut footage on the National Geographic Channel and wanted to know when the program might air again. We're not sure when the show will re-run, but here is a YouTube link to the same halibut cinematography as seen on NG. "I was surprised by how active these giant flatfish can be," says Cary. "They actually seem to be curious about the camera."
