It’s the SMALLEST HIDDEN MICKEY IN ALL OF DISNEYLAND! It’s also one of the few true Hidden Mickeys that’s hidden on purpose but is actually a full image of Mickey’s face instead of just the regular Mickey ears outline.

You’re going to have to zoom in a little because that is Mickey’s face in the top left corner of shield on the side of the building. It’s no more than a quarter inch tall…if that. It might be closer to an eighth of an inch.

Many of you will be able to figure out what general area this is in, but does anyone know exactly where to find it and how to spot it?

If no one can come up with the location I will be happy to tell you in the comments. 🤓

Matterhorn Basketball

This is myself doing my best Michael Jordan impression in the famous Matterhorn basketball court. (The original one…the backboard got replaced during the big refurbishment about 10 years ago with a new one.)

If you have watched the Disney Plus The Imagineering Story series then you might have seen the episode where Former Imagineer, Bob Gurr, who helped create the ride, leads viewers on a tour inside the attraction and stops to show off the basketball hoop along with a wall full of signatures.

Not only is my name signed on that wall multiple times but when they took down this original basketball hoop and backboard they had all the Matterhorn Cast Members sign it and I was one of the lucky ones who got to do just that.

My two favorite attractions in Fantasyland besides Castle were polar opposites and opposite from each other. Storybook and the Matterhorn (or the Rock as we called it) were 180 degrees different but that’s what made it special. You were operating a first of its kind coaster that Walt used to ride and also is the only only Matterhorn that would be built at any Disney park due to Walts’s wishes.

It was magical walking and inspecting the track as the sun came up in the morning but as all of us who worked the Rock can tell you keeping a steel tube coaster that’s over a half a century old going and not breaking down isn’t easy but it’s rewarding.

Enjoy the photos…if you’ve ever had any questions about all of the Matterhorn stuff just ask in the comments. 🤓

(I included a few random pics as well…the last one is what the new basketball setup looks like today.)

It’s amazing what a little bit of smoke will do for a sunrise at Yosemite. Now you know why they call that side of El Capitan the “Dawn Wall”. 🌅

My very last shift at Disneyland and my very last time to be able to captain the Ariel boat on Storybook.

I specially asked for Book as my final shift since it had become my favorite attraction to work in all of Fantasyland.

I didn’t think about what I was doing ahead of time and announced to all of my IG followers that this was going to be my last shift. I told everyone to come ride the Ariel boat with me as the captain one last time. It turned out a TON of people took me up on the offer.

At multiple times during the day we had three lines of Guests waiting foe the first time ever. One regular line, one disability line and one line for people who wanted to ride Eric or “Tigger’s” boat. It was NUTS.

The interesting part came at two times of the day. During fireworks the boats stop in the middle of the water and watch the fireworks from there. We had to send three boats all together because we couldn’t fit all my friends on one boat.

And of course the very final boat of the night at closing was reserved for my close friends. We had the VERY final boat so that we could take our time.

I can’t put into words how special that day was, how loved everyone made me feel and what it meant to leave Disneyland in that way. I will be eternally grateful to everyone who came and especially to Jamie (Princess Ariel) for helping get it all together and Grandma Pat for putting up with me all day.

If you made it this far try and answer a question. The last photo in this post is of my friends and I right before leaving for my very final voyage. Anyone want to take a guess at what’s wrong in that photo? ❤️🐳❤️

Let’s keep the Disneyland weekend going! Welcome to what it’s like to have Storybook all to yourself in the morning.

With having knowledge on something like 15 attractions when I worked at Disneyland, Storybook was tied for my all time favorite to work. I saw it as almost like a Jungle Cruise for kids. Although I had a little TOO much fun with how I did things. 😂

When your lead has to pull you aside and tell you that’s it’s not the best idea to have your whole boat scream in terror as they are entering the mouth of Monstro the whale, you know you’re a little off the normal spiel.

Plus the other amazing thing about working Book was that I always had the Ariel boat. That way I could say “Welcome to Storybook…my name is Eric and I will be your storyteller here abroad the Ariel boat today. Get it everyone? Ariel and Eric…it’s like a match made under…the…sea.”

Yeah everyone either absolutely loved that line or just rolled their eyes. And just FYI Storybook is home to the SMALLEST Hidden Mickey in all of Disneyland. (And it’s actually Mickey’s full face.) If you wish I can always post a photo of it because no one knows where it is. It isn’t ever in one of those Hidden Mickey books. 😁

Since it’s a Disney kind of day…here’s one of my favorite photos of Sleeping Beauty Castle at sunset. There used to be a very short window in the summer where they would put the rope up after the second parade so they could get ready for fireworks. If you hung out and waited for them to start clearing people out you could get a shot like this. ❤️🐭🏰

Yep, there was actually a time that I worked at Disneyland. This photo was one of my top bucket list items. It took multiple times at 6am to get it right. I miss early mornings and having the keys to that castle. ❤️🐭❤️

It’s time! Ever wonder what looks like when it’s at flood stage the day after all the rain? This is the Merced river at 10 feet. The water you see is the whole meadow to the east of Swinging bridge. (I needed an super-wide art lens to get the whole scene.)
I live within 90 miles of the park and while I am there all the time, during this period I was in Yosemite 7 times in 3 weeks! I even spent a WHOLE DAY not taking photos. It was hard but totally spectacular. ⭐️
