New *crop-sensor* Z-mount camera coming soon! This will be Nikon's first DX format mirrorless camera, and along with the available 16-50mm VR and 50-250mm lenses, looks like a nice start to a more budget-friendly system. Coming in November for $999 with the 16-50mm lens, or $1350 with both lenses.

Photographer friends! Photolemur 3 is a pretty nifty desktop software that -- while it is rather limited -- does make quick work of RAW (or JPG) processing to produce images with enhanced color, dynamic range and noise reduction, plus there's a few filters you can try out. And it's free!

What's especially nice is the before/after slider, and a very simple interface. So while this doesn't replace Lightroom or retouching software, it's a neat way to "automagically" enhance your images. May be worth at try.

TBT - Early scene modes? Portrait, mid-shot, group, landscape? Not quite... early point-and-shoot cameras like this Minolta Hi-Matic G used "zone focus" controls to make focusing easier for novice photographers. Each of these little icons corresponded to a specific distance, and there was actually a distance scale printed on the underside of the lens for more advanced users.
