Photography became a love and passion of mine at a young age, and I started out by taking pictures of the mountain views in my hometown while I was I elementary school. After graduating high school I decided to start this small business, and it has grown far beyond my wildest expectations. Each milestone I get to witness in this job makes it so much sweeter. From dating to engagement to seeing them get married and now to having a precious baby join their family—it doesn’t get much better than this! Thank you two for coming back to me to capture these moments. I’ll never take it for granted. 🤍

Also, we have horses on the family land, and each time we take photos, they’re an optional guest if they aren’t stalled, and when one gets the chance to pose, she takes her job seriously. 🤣

When I decided to stop posting identifiable pictures of the children that I photograph, I wasn’t completely sure what that looked like, but as the busy fall season is here, I’ve learned to just let kids be kids, and the pictures really make themselves. We start off with a few posed ones, and after that the pictures seem to fall in place, and families end up making memories instead of dreading picture time.

Life at JKP now days looks a lot more like running through fields and less like standing and smiling. I’m learning to lean into it, and my clients seem to love the most natural photos the most anyway. As dangerous as AI is, I think it’s made me better as an artist, and for that I’m thankful. 🧡

JKP clients and followers,

For years, I’ve had clients sign a release for permission to post their photos on my photography pages and websites. Then, at the session, I’ll ask again to verify. The world has been scary for a long time, and the internet is dark and with AI technology, it keeps getting worse.

With the recent rulings of the Seventh Circuit Court, I won’t be posting children on my page. In a nutshell, this ruling protects the possession and use of AI generated CSAM. Absolutely any picture on the internet can now be altered with AI. At the end of the day, law has not caught up to AI yet.

The government is not protecting these children, and as someone who cares deeply for children and the families I photograph, I want to do my part, and not posting children’s photos is a good place to start. Unfortunately, what’s already on the internet is there, but moving forward they won’t be posted.

I love my clients and their families as though they’re my own, and this may hinder social media exposure, but if it protects your children, it’s worth the lower like and follow counts for me.
