“Becoming”

This was my Mother’s Day gift. We were passing through Page, AZ and I finally decided to brave the tourists and photograph this southwest wonder despite the hand-held, crowded, rushed, “speed photography” limitations. I wished I had time to compose better and soak in this breathtaking slot canyon but I’m grateful to experience it regardless and hope my photos do it justice.

To the Navajo nation - thank you for opening your precious land and allowing us the privilege to experience this sacred space. 🙏🏻

New print of this oldie going up in the Adobe Utah office tomorrow as part of their artist rotation. Such an honor! And so fun to print an old favorite from a memorable moment cresting Mt Ben Lomond above Queenstown, NZ with my husband to witness this luminous scene. ✨

“Is There No Other Way?”

It is an honor to be selected to exhibit for the at the . This year’s theme is “Brave Like Eve”. I spent a lot of time learning about Eve and her role from not only my unique perspective as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints () but also other Christian religions and folklore. My journey in coming to select this photo as a representation of Eve’s bravery and great faith to begin the human race has been a deeply spiritual experience. There are many moving artist representations at the show so I encourage anyone in the area to go check it out. The show runs through March 27th.

To walk through the rainforests of Olympia National Park is to step back in time. When the land gave in abundance and man gave back. To dream of endless lush forests and a cacophony of life. It was a privilege to breathe in her gift of fresh air and glorious green. 🌿

Where other trees would drown, the Bald Cypress in southeastern Oklahoma expanded and deepened it's root system developing specialized "knees" to allow the roots to breathe so it could thrive in either wet or dry environments.

I can't help but compare - How are we expanding, deepening and adapting to better "breathe" when placed in the unlikely and often inhospitable circumstances of life?

“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.” ~ Muir

It was only a couple of weeks that my health was stable enough to go enjoy autumn in these Utah mountains but the healing it gave to my soul may just keep me going through winter. 🙏🏻 🍁

Old haunt, new year. Check out the 8 year difference (and Sony vs Canon). I still prefer the old Canon shot. What do you think?

This favorite spot of mine has changed a lot in 8 years with old aspens dying, new ones growing, pines getting taller and a lot of new undergrowth creeping in. Always love seeing Mt Timpanogos peaking out the back. It was fun to go back and see the change.
