There’s something about winter that makes everything feel a little softer. Cold hands finding each other, quiet laughter between layers of sweaters, warming up beside a crackling fireplace after the cold. The kind of love that feels warm against the chill. Cozy sessions like this always remind me that sometimes the most beautiful moments are the simplest ones.

oh look, it’s the many sides of Jess 😆

hi friends 🤍 if you’re new here, i’m jess — your emo-loving, japan-traveling, photography bestie

i romanticize everything
slow mornings that feel like an old memory
cool night air under the stars
an early 2000s emo song playing at the exact right moment
and yes… a slightly concerning amount of nostalgia for my childhood

oddly specific things about me:
i’m actually very introverted… which tends to shock people
i absolutely hate coffee (i know, i know… please don’t hold it against me)
i was diagnosed with ocd at a young age, which probably explains why i notice everything
i definitely have more tattoos than you think i do (sorry dad haha)
my friends say i’ve made checkered vans my entire personality, so obviously they had to make an appearance in these photos
and i will emotionally attach myself to a song for 7–10 business days like it’s my entire personality

i’m the kind of person who will fix your hair, hype you up, and then immediately get emotional over something small and fleeting

i’ve always had a camera in my hand, these days it looks like documenting people in the season of life they’re in, whether that’s weddings, celebrating love, or stepping into a new chapter

when i’m not working, i’m probably rewatching something for comfort, planning my next trip, thrifting or collecting something i definitely don’t have space for, or out on a walk with prince

anyway, i’m really happy you’re here 🫶

I was invited into their world in those first few weeks, to document when everything was brand new and softly unfolding

and now, a year later, i’m lucky enough to be invited back in
to see how curiosity has taken shape, how play has found its place, how he moves through the world with wonder

to witness a first year like this, to return and document it again, is something i hold close
