Update: Apologies to all my brothers and families who enjoyed the pictures. Between getting sick and my cabinet shop being really busy we had to shift focus to that. We are catching up and will be returning to shooting some pictures again. Look forward to seeing all my brothers on the fire scene. weather its shooting pictures or fighting next to them. Have a blessed day. DH

Check out this stunning photo of Jake's Auto Parts 2, a salvage yard on U.S. Highway 80 between Dallas and Fort Worth in 1942. It's an exquisite tone poem of an image, with every detail --- the signage, the front grills of several cars leaning against the doors, the hubcaps, the wrecked car on the right, Jake himself (presumably) standing in the doorway --- and all perfectly exposed by Arthur Rothstein, who took this shot. Not to mention gas for 12.9 cents per gallon, and at such a stable price it could be painted. Jake's probably got all kinds of crazy stuff inside. You never know when you're going to need the interior door handles for a 1932 Cadillac 452-B Imperial Sedan! 😀 Truly one of the best photos I've ever posted.

Today AFD academy class 5-26 performed their wildland skills and I had the honor of capturing it for them. They performed drafting operations, cutting in a fire line, how to properly use the tools to their advantage, and a few other skills. We also got to see the 2 brand new Grass rigs that AFD has recently received. G-3, and G-6. These are vital for the grass fires around here and to go on deployments to help other areas when needed. We will have more to follow for Academy 5-26! Amarillo Fire Department Amarillo Professional Firefighters Local 542
