This cartoon reminds of a time when I went to help Steve Lewis gather a cow for a farmer. I had a broken bone in my foot so I was not able to get a boot on so therefore I couldn't get horseback, therefore that made me the driver of the pickup and trailer. Steve gets out unloads his horse and takes his rope down to rope the cow and load her in the trailer. Now mind you that when we pulled into the wheat field it was a really bumpy ride over the furrows and lo and behold the cow had lost her calf and there were two hungry coyotes that were trying to take that dead baby from her momma so needless she was on the hook for anything and everything that came close to her dead baby... So Steve unloads and takes after the cow and when he gets her caught I pull the trailer over to him so that he could load her, I get out and unlatch the trailer gate and throw it wide open as Steve is bringing the cow around to load her, he gets her up to the trailer and she is really hot and mad by now. He yells at me to get the hotshot out from behind the pickup seat and get behind her to prod her into going in the trailer.. Ok that is all fine and dandy until I look up and one strand of his rope is breaking as he is pulling her into the trailer, Ok prod a little more, another strand on the rope breaks! Yikes!!!! So I ask him what to do when the final strand breaks and he sitting atop a horse all safe and sound said run like H_ _ L... Fine and dandy, how do I run like that when I have a broken foot and rough ground with a mad cow between me and the pickup? Needless to say because I am still alive, he got her loaded before the last strand on the rope broke.
