Maybe this has nothing to do with money.

Maybe money is just the easiest thing to point at.

Because “I’m being financially responsible” feels a lot better than admitting you’re terrified to be seen.

Terrified you’ll hate the photos.

Terrified you’ll disappoint yourself.

Terrified that if you finally do this, you’ll have to let go of the possibility this goes better than you imagined.

I don’t think most women are waiting for the right time.

I think they’re waiting to feel safe.

That version of you isn’t waiting on the other side of 20 pounds, a promotion, a relationship, or a different season of life.

I may be a bo***ir photographer, but I still have my moments too.

I was about to step into the shower and caught myself in the mirror.

And I almost, almost let my inner voice try to tear my body down.

And I probably would’ve spiraled in the past. Let the brainwashing society ingrained in me for decades override what I’ve learned so hard to let go of over the last few years.

That this body is strong. She’s provided for me for 30 years. Not only that, she has grown two of the most amazing children. Survived pre eclampsia twice.

That my curves are beautiful in so many cultures and history and I’m proud of them.

That the rolls I spotted are proof I love some damn good food and my body is healthy.

I’ve had some days that I’ve truthfully struggled postpartum with the changes but as the days have gone into weeks and months I’ve stopped picking myself apart and embracing this is the body I have and it’s not everything I’d want but it’s worthy and it’s mine. It’s home. It’s still providing nourishment to me and my beautiful daughter.

There’s so many pieces and parts to me that has nothin to do with my body.

I’m damn proud to look in that mirror tonight and admired my body. It’s taken a long time to get here trust me.

Here’s to flooding your feed with a body that may just look like yours that you don’t see on socials often if ever.
