Another way Drones prove their value as a tool!

Rock Springs Field Office conducted a UAS flight over the Little Man Site. This site is a large stone circle site with 41 stone circles that were identified during inventory in 2012. Large stone circle sites are relatively uncommon in the field office with only 7 sites having more than 20 stone circles. Data from UAS flights cannot replace field inventory, but it is hoped that the accuracy 1.5 to 5cm of the data from the UAS aerial imagery will be of great use in efficiently documenting such large sites and aid in identifying stone circles missed by pedestrian inventory as well as providing a means of collecting size data without having to step inside of the rings which tribes have said they prefer people not do.
