Hello, friends! My life, as usual, has been crazier than ever. However, this year has been a time of chaos partnered with some great photographic opportunities. I'll work more with updates, soon, but there's no rest for a single guy who works, maintains a home, and still chases a dream with no intent of relinquishing while I still breathe.

A couple more shots from the place that has captivated my soul for many years, Rockport State Recreation Area. A spectacular winter wonderland with a diverse array of coloration and landscape, finely contrasted with the breaths of Huron. Bundle up, pack your water, and remind yourself why you live in N. Michigan.

This fossil cluster is about the size of a softball and is one of my Rockport favorites. It illustrates several different species that once roamed Rockport when it was an ocean floor, between 360 to 410 million years ago.........

This is just a wintry Rockport hillscape. The creative eye will see a big buck, laying down, and looking to the left. Hairs standing up on the back of its neck.

It was a beautiful evening at Rockport, as usual. Watched a carload of kids excitedly run up the gravel hill and not to a video game. Ran into another park regular who said how much they loved spending their days off there to stay grounded. I headed for the back wall of the quarry so I could sit, soak it all up, and think about what we really have going on here. I know there are many people who share my special passion for this place and it's going to take commitment, research, and connections to make sure every aspect of this is considered before there are serious modifications. Where did July go? Very busy month for me between working overtime and shooting some amazing shows! One of the amazing events I shot was my first horse show. I was game for a new adventure so I volunteered to shoot it. Never could have dreamed what a task I had taken on. End of Day 2, I had taken nearly 1500 pictures! More work than a wedding but I had a great time and met some really great people. I've "finally"put together my first gallery of this event on my Smugmug. Pictures can be viewed here, as well as purchased. I've arranged special pricing for this events photos and they're shipped from a studio that I call my favorite, nation wide. I actually forgot The Alpena Blues Festival was going on yesterday but was reminded quickly when I went to do some fishing behind the fairgrounds. Ran home, grabbed my camera and caught a few shots while taking in a couple great bands. I got there just in time to catch Broken Arrow Blues Band WSG Tosha Owens. Tosha was amazing and took me back to a day when I used to enjoy the small clubs in Detroit. They were followed up by The Jimmys who who made a great appearance, backing their 5 albums already released. If you've never been this festival, I highly suggest you don't miss it again.
