Took this senior photo back in April but never got around to posting it… because life, right? So here it is, finally.

We survived the first 2 weeks of school; slowly nailing out our rhythm with all the schedule changes, after school stuff, weekend classes, you name it.

Here’s to a long weekend that’s hopefully a little more relaxing. We could all use it.😴

The kids and I had to do this one.🤪

I used to feel like this about getting older. But this year, I’m feeling more like myself than I have in a very long time. And it feels sooo good.

Here’s to me🍻 another trip round the sun & finally feeling like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

If you haven’t seen Toy Story 5, you might want to skip this post.

We watched Toy Story 5 on R’s birthday.
6 days later, A turned 12.
And in 3 days, X goes into middle school.

Near the end, Jessie said this:
“Bonnie’s growing up, and we don’t get to decide when that happens. All that matters is that we were there at the right time to help them along.”
And I just fell apart.

Because I’m living it.
Right now. In real time. With all 3 of them.
And no matter how hard I hold on, I don’t get to decide any of it.
None of us do.

Growing up doesn’t ask for permission.
It doesn’t announce itself. It doesn’t slow down so you can catch your breath or let you say “wait, not yet”.
It just happens. In the ordinary Wednesdays. The car rides. The movie that you’ve seen a thousand times.

This is why we do what we do.
To show it happened.
That they were this small.
That you were right there in the middle of it all.

You don’t get to decide when they grow up.
But you get to decide what to hold onto.

Fall minis are officially open to everyone today; so let’s talk about what you’re actually getting.

Mini sessions aren’t just a shorter session, they’re a different kind of “easy”.

The details have already been chosen, so you’re not spending time figuring out logistics, you just show up as your family that day… as you are. No long stretch of posing, no losing steam halfway through… just a quick window where the kids barely have time to get restless.

And here’s the thing about “less time”… it doesn’t mean really mean less. A mini session won’t hand you a hundred of images to sort through… that’s true; but it will give you the ones you actually print, the ones you send to family & friends, the ones you keep coming back to.

Because whether it’s 15 minutes or an hour, it’s still us catching this exact version of your family. You know… the one that won’t stay this way much longer.

Our fall mini sessions officially opened for booking today, our VIP List got priority access to all the dates and locations before anyone else.

We’ve got over half of the spots booked, with familiar faces joining us this year alongside some new families. We are excited to work with everyone!🙌🏻

Thinking about the setup I want to use for this year’s Santa minis has been a process.

I knew I wanted a timeless setup that isn’t too over the top, so I decided to use a wreath I had used a few years ago for Studio Christmas minis. That wreath started with a red bow that didn’t work for the setup I had in mind years ago, so I switched it to burlap. But the burlap didn’t work on Betsy Bug. She needed a real pop of color. So the bow had to go back to red.

After searching for a while, I thought I had found the right bow for her; but it looked super cheap in person. So I bought what feels like all the red bows Michaels had, and my friend, A & G Home LLC handmade one for me. It turned out so much better than I had hoped.

Small detail, but it’s what helped finish the look.🤩
