Cherry Blossom & magnolia season is around the corner and we have just a few limited spots left!
After a record snowy winter, spring is just around the corner. March brings with it the first signs of spring, cherry blossoms and magnolia blooms.
We are already getting lots of inquiries for spring cherry blossom shoots at the Tidal Basin, Smithsonian Castle Gardens magnolia blossoms, and Alexandria cherry blossom spots.
Washington Post and NPS have both put out their predictions for peak bloom at the Tidal Basin of Yoshino trees between March 29 to April 1st, or April 3-7th. Although pinning down nature is always a challenge, cherry blossom peak bloom is coming soon. And before that, pink magnolia blossoms will start earlier in mid to late march, and the Yoshino’s will be followed by Kwanzan cherry blossoms around about 2 weeks later into mid April.
I’ve created a blog The Top 6 Locations for Cherry Blossom Photshoots in Washington D.C. and Alexandria VA with some great resources for families, couples and individuals looking to capture cherry blossom portraits this year.
If you’re a client prepping for a photoshoot here are some tips to make the most of cherry blossom season
📅 Consider weekday sessions: These spots can get crowded on weekends; weekdays and early mornings offer smoother sessions.
🎒 Bring essentials: Bring flats, warm layers and hand warmers. Early spring can often be very cold and windy, especially at the Tidal Basin. Early spring gardens and tidal basin paths often feature muddy and uneven paths, so flats are better than heels here.
My availability is very limited Cherry Blossom portraits this year and we have only a couple spots left. Reach out now if you are considering spring portraits this year!
