Alright everyone — we’re officially 2 months out from the 3-Inch Spec Race!

Please be prepared for the $75 non-refundable entry fee. All race entries must be prepaid, so start planning now.

You may also want to pick up Academy of Model Aeronautics Park Pilot AMA insurance. I highly recommend having coverage in place. Participation is ultimately at your own risk, so please make sure you’re comfortable and prepared before race weekend.

The weekend of July 11th & 12th we’ll be hosting our first outdoor race in over a decade! Get ready for a full weekend of racing, flying, and hanging out with the community.

This event will be 3-inch drones only with the following rules:

- Any 3" frame
- Maximum 3.5" propellors
- Maximum 6000KV motors
- 3S batteries only
- Any video system welcome: Analog, HDZero, DJI, or Walksnail

Saturday – Practice & Qualifying
Get dialed in, learn the course, and lock in your qualifying times.

Saturday Night – Pilot Hangout / BBQ
After sundown, we’ll be hosting a get-together at my place.

Sunday – Finals Day
We’ll crown champions using a Chase the Ace format.

DroneMax whoop race APRIL!!!!

What can I say about the day….let’s start with a champion who has reigned supreme in New Mexico micro racing for a year un-challenged! “Dr. Ryde” with another victory and a humble champion! “Dr. Ryde” is a major part of the success in DroneMax micro racing. We all love “Dr. Ryde!” Jamus took the first ace in the final all while showing up just before the main events started. Dropping a sub 20 seconds lap and taking the fastest lap trophy! Joel took on the top 3 masters in pro…and destroyed the field with a 19.6 second lap! He did this….with VERY little time on the track. Lt. Dan….had NO BUSINESS already challenging the best in the state….but he did! Missing an ace in the final JUST NARROWLY to the champ! Lt. Dan is already a force to deal with on the sticks and the pro class has been put on notice.

The newly developed Intermediate class…already developing killers! Musashi….the drone samurai was top qualifier of the day! Musashi has been an absolute joy to see grow since his start at DroneMax! Musashi was thrown into the fire with some of the fastest pilots around from the start and always has a smile and positive vibes. Musashi will absolutely be making the jump to pro class very soon! After he stuck it to the intermediate class, Musashi was deadly and unstoppable allllll day! Newly bumped from Novice, Gordylicious stayed calm and collected in the mains and took the final ace in the intermediate class! Gordy has been a force on the road circuit with the mini z shop racing and has now transferred those racing skills to the sky! His calm, collected, and precise flying has made him an ultimate rival in the intermediate class! “21 whoops” rounded out the podium in the p3 spot after a YEAR in hibernation! This guy has the most positive attitude and is extremely contagious to be around! If we start seeing “21 whoops” monthly, he will be making the jump to pro class, in no time! Welcome back dawg!

Novice! Novice class racing is NOT SO NOVICE! Completing a DroneMax track lap is a feat in itself. ROCKETMAN!!!! Aaaaaand NEW novice champion. ROCKETMAN has been flying the same OG whoop for over a year! He designed his won custom stick ends to allow him to take full control of his drone and his 1st place destiny! ROCKETMAN…you inspire the shop and not a single person is not inspired by you! One of the most improved pilots in 2026!!! Now Chunky!! Chunk has been racing at DroneMax for a short period and is absolutely ready to make the jump to intermediate! Even without the opportunity to practice at the shop as much as he’d like, his calm manners, deadly skills, and solid basics foundation grabbed him the p2 spot for the day!!! Yeah CHUNK!!! In the p3….MisykP!!! Miz Ike P! Remember that name! Dude on his SECOND Race makes podium! Mike has been flying a very short while and is taking it all in! Micro. 2in. 3.5in. 5in. 7in! Analog and digital FPV racing and freestyle! Mike will absolutely see the p1 spot get banned from novice, and go straight into the flames of intermediate in due time! Mike is a sponge and does not just hear…he listens! He makes adjustments and puts it into action!!! Mike is already a brother of the crew and mark my words…will make pro class before year’s end!

I don’t want to be sentimental. But, every pilot that takes the time to come race with us at DroneMax….please know that you are appreciated. We all know there’s good and bad luck every raceday and it’s all part of racing! But everyone who is part of the DroneMax family is equally loved and valued. What an awesome raceday. The next…will be greater!
