I just came back from the Armendaris Ranch in south central New Mexico. The trip was mainly focused on photographing the nightly exodus of a million or more bats from the Jornada Bat Caves. Unfortunately, for me, the road to the bat caves was washed out by several inches of rain the night before. No complaints because here in New Mexico, we need the rain! But I did come home with an image of this Lesser Nighthawk. I love the softness of the desert Mesquite with the mountains in the distance.
