The capital district experienced severe weather on Friday, August 9th, 2024, as the remnants of Debby brought heavy rain and strong wind gusts. A localized band of precipitation hit the area between 3 pm and 6 pm, dumping over 3 inches of rain in a short period, coinciding with rush hour. This caused widespread flooding in Albany, stranding multiple individuals in their vehicles, and necessitated the closure of several roads, which remained shut until the water receded. Thanks to the prompt response of Albany DGS and emergency crews, no injuries were reported.

The CP Holiday Train made is annual visit to Mechanicville NY. A large crowed gathered for good laughs, a live show, and to donate food to those who need it. Always a pleasure to have this train come through the area.

Around 2:45pm Waterford Fire Department was dispatched to 8 Front Street for a reported structure fire. On arrival fire was showing from the structure. Waterford, Boght (Fast), Halfmoon, and Mechanicville all operated on scene and made a quick stop of the fire.

Wow honestly the structure fire album got A lot more interaction then I thought it would. So as of today besides photos from storm chasing and other random photography I do I will be doing more fire buffs. Thank you to all my new followers for the likes. I can see that many of you like myself are firefighters. I hope you enjoy all my pictures ranging from storms to fires. Storm season is coming fast and we are ready. For updates on weather and when we go chasing please like Sheartwist New York. Photos do get posted on that page but will also be posted here. I hope this page becomes as great as I want it too be.

Shortly before 9AM Monday, March 27 2017 Waterford Fire Department was dispatched to 12 Washington Avenue for a Reported Structure fire. First arriving units had heavy fire coming from the structure and called mutual aid to the scene. As crews were inside the building conditions change and command called the all out. Crews then set up multiple hand lines and master streams to make a defensive attack from outside the structure as heavy fire was now through the roof. This fire did cause difficulty for neighbors as debris blocked a storm drain and sent water into neighboring yards and homes. The fire is under investigation at this time.
