Servo in early March when he was just a wee lad - I can't get enough of the beautiful spotted babies of Jack Creek Appaloosas. He's so handsome contrasted against his mom's dark coat.

When you’re young and the forest is your playground, there is no end to the fun. This pretty filly is curious and friendly. She was a delight to photograph and spend time with.

"Sparing Partners" - I was looking at some old work and came across files of these two Friesians in the dunes. Of course, I edited one. I love their playfulness here. It makes me happy to watch horses being horses.

I learn so much from horses. They help me to slow down and be more observant and present. This is true whether I am handling, riding, driving or photographing them. For me it's been a lifelong journey and there is always more to learn. There are gifts to be had beyond interacting with these magnificent animals. Who else can relate to this? I would love to hear your perspective.

Canelo, 4 yr old Gyspy Cob stallion - I enjoy photographing horses as they mature. This palomino roan filled out and grew a gorgeous mane and tail since I saw him last year. These photos were taken before Christmas. That weekend it was slick in the pasture, so we moved to the covered arena. I find it's important to be flexible and comfortable shooting in different conditions. While PNW winters may not be the optimum time, with damp weather and hairy horses, one can still get nice some images. For information on Canelo please reach out to Hidden Leaf Ranch GypsyCobs.

I'm excited to share highlights from last year, and I'm feeling energized for the Year of the Horse! Thanks to everyone who contributed. Note it’s a little long. I'm still figuring out how to create reels on my PC. There's always room to learn something new. Enjoy!
