✨ Twenty looks good on you, Nyah! ✨

This session was extra special—not only were we celebrating Nyah’s 20th birthday, but we were also capturing the joy and excitement of a surprise engagement! 💍❤️

Nyah is the kind of person who leaves an impression long after you meet her. Her beauty is undeniable, but what stands out even more is her passion, intelligence, and determination. She’s currently majoring in Marine Biology, with a focus on whales and jellyfish—studying some of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures while working toward a future filled with discovery and impact. 🐋🌊✨

Watching her step into this new decade and this exciting new chapter of life was an honor to capture. The future is bright, and I have no doubt she will continue to do amazing things both on land and at sea.

Happy 20th Birthday, Nyah, and congratulations on your engagement! 💕 Here’s to new adventures, big dreams, and a love story just getting started.

“If you give a mouse a cookie…” 🍪🐭💙

…you might just end up with the cutest 4-month-old photo session ever.

It feels like just yesterday RJ was a tiny newborn, and now he’s all smiles, bright eyes, and the sweetest little personality. Watching babies grow during their first year is one of my favorite parts of photography. Every session captures a season that passes far too quickly.

For his milestone session, we brought the beloved story If You Give a Mouse a Cookie to life, and RJ was absolutely adorable as the star of the show. From curious expressions to those precious baby smiles, every image tells a little piece of his story.

Four months old, growing faster than anyone would like, and already stealing hearts everywhere he goes. 💙

Happy 4 months, RJ! Thank you for letting me capture these sweet memories for your family.

Some stories never make headlines, but they still shape us.

That’s the heart behind Southern Ink.

This blog was born from a lifelong love of storytelling — from writing feature stories in Savannah during my MFA program to studying oral storytelling and Southern identity during my PhD work. But more than anything, it comes from a belief that the stories found here in Southwest Georgia matter.

The conversations on front porches.
The people who quietly hold communities together.
The places that rarely make the spotlight but leave fingerprints on who we become.

Ink means writing.
Ink means permanence.
And some stories deserve to be remembered.

There’s something powerful about naming a thing. A blog name isn’t just branding. It’s a declaration. A promise. A direction. For me, Southern Ink became the only name that ever really fi…

New Blog Post up on the blog: Southern Ink! The Women who Raised the South is the first in a series that will get a little more personal with a few Southern Women as we move forward. Who does this make you think about? For me it was my Momo

There are women in the South whose names never made it into history books, though they held entire families together with flour-dusted hands and stories told while shelling peas at the kitchen tabl…
