The Au Sable River Canoe Marathon, "the world's toughest spectator race," will start in 3 days. Paddlers will launch in Grayling and traverse 120 miles nonstop to Lake Huron.

Severe thunderstorms rolled through much of Michigan over the weekend, leaving hundreds of thousands without power.

I captured this monster over Whitmore Lake with my iPhone just as the wind started to pick up. Minutes later, trees were down, lightning struck nearby, and the entire area went dark during an intense heat wave.
