Filoli in November is one of my favorite places for fall sessions. I know these grounds well. It’s somewhere I shoot often as well as bring my own children!

The holiday decorations go up mid-November, and the gardens give toddlers room to actually run and play while we capture your family.

This maternity session from last year is a good example of what that looks like. If you are looking for family or maternity photos in time for holiday cards, now’s the time to book a November session. 🎄

One of the things I feel most privileged about in this work is often being one of the first people parents tell about their new baby.

Walking into a home in those early days is special. Everything feels a little different. There’s the exhaustion, the tenderness, the figuring-it-out-as-you-go, and so much love all happening at once.

As a mom who has given birth twice, I know how hard those early weeks can be. They can be beautiful and joyful and emotional and overwhelming, sometimes all in the same hour.

I love seeing families surrounded by people who are there to support them, especially in those early days when everything is new.

For this Santa Clara newborn session, the grandparents had flown in to be with the new parents and welcome their new baby. We included them too: the whole family together, grandparents with their newest grandchild, and the people who showed up for these new parents during such an important season.

I feel so lucky that my job allows me to document not just a new baby, but the people who are loving and supporting a growing family too. How amazing she will have all these images of her family in her early days to look back ok when she’s older.

These are some of my favorite ages to photograph!

A baby, a toddler, and all the chaos and sweetness that comes with having two little ones. As a mom of two young children myself, I truly love being in the middle of it.

I love playing games during sessions, seeing what makes them laugh, and watching all the ways siblings interact with each other. My favorite moments are the ones that happen when everyone is having a good time and just enjoying being together.

I had so much fun photographing this family in Palo Alto, and I’m really looking forward to all of the families I’ll be photographing this fall. If you’ve been thinking about family photos, I’d love to photograph your family too.

It’s so special to photograph the same family twice in such a meaningful chapter. Once with all the anticipation, then again with baby finally here. This one took us from a wildflower patch for their maternity session to a quiet garden tucked away, one of my favorite hidden spots for East Bay newborn sessions. Two seasons, two locations, one family growing from 4 to 5.

The sweetest new teammate at two months old. 🏈

The football-inspired nursery was a meaningful tribute to Dad’s years of playing and coaching, but the nursery is just the (very lovely) backdrop. It’s always the family inside it I’m really there for.
