Today I’m excited to share one of my recent wildlife portraits featuring Nikita, the captivating female Jaguar at Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum.

Big cats have always fascinated me because of their strength, intelligence, and presence, and photographing Nikita was an incredible experience. Moments like these continue to remind me why wildlife photography is so meaningful to me, capturing the beauty and personality of animals while encouraging appreciation for the natural world.

I’m grateful for opportunities to document and share these experiences through photography, and I appreciate everyone who continues to support my creative work and passion for wildlife storytelling.

One of the most rewarding parts of wildlife photography is documenting species that rely so heavily on habitat conservation and restoration. Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph a Northern Bobwhite at Shoal Creek Park in Montevallo, Alabama.

Northern Bobwhite populations have steadily declined over time as natural habitats continue to be impacted by urban development and large scale agriculture. These birds rely on healthy ecosystems with weedy fields, open pinelands, native grasses, and scattered brush cover to successfully survive and flourish.

The diverse habitat found throughout Shoal Creek Park Foundation provides an important refuge for wildlife like the bobwhite, and it’s encouraging to see conservation-minded spaces continue to support native species within our communities.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a park like this in Montevallo, and moments like these serve as a reminder of why protecting natural habitats matters.

This past weekend, I had the privilege of exploring the natural beauty of Montevallo, Alabama while documenting a diverse array of bird species through photography.

From the peaceful landscapes of Ebenezer Swamp to the scenic trails of Shoal Creek Park, each location provided unique opportunities to capture the remarkable wildlife that makes Alabama’s ecosystems so extraordinary. I am grateful for every chance to document these stunning species and share the beauty of our local natural environments.

Nature continues to be a constant source of inspiration, and I look forward to many more opportunities to preserve and share its beauty through my work.

Today, I’m sharing a personal loss that is deeply meaningful to me. My beloved chinchilla, Destiny, passed away at 15 years old.

For many years, she was a constant presence in my life, bringing a quiet sense of comfort, consistency, and companionship through every season. Her gentle nature and unique personality made a lasting impact, and she was truly part of my everyday world.

Fifteen years holds a lifetime of memories, and I’m incredibly grateful for each one. It’s often the smallest moments that leave the greatest impression, and those are the ones I will carry with me.

Thank you for allowing me the space to reflect and process today. I look forward to returning with the same passion and dedication, honoring the balance between life, loss, and the moments that matter most.

This afternoon offered a much-needed reset, spent immersed in the quiet beauty of Ebenezer Swamp. The stillness of the water, the soft movement of wildlife, and the natural light filtering through the trees created an atmosphere that was both calming and inspiring. Moments like these are a reminder of why I’m so passionate about capturing the beauty of the natural world.

This opportunity means a great deal to me, and I’m grateful to showcase the character and beauty of our local environment. I hope it inspires others to explore and appreciate the parks, wildlife, and natural spaces in their own communities.

A sincere thank you to The Pelham BEAT for the opportunity and partnership on this project.

Tonight, I had the chance to photograph one of those quiet, unforgettable moments a radiant sunset right here in Montevallo, Alabama.

There’s something special about watching the sky transform, even more so when you can capture it and share that beauty with others. Grateful for evenings like this and the reminder that nature always knows how to put on a show.
