In 2018, I had the privilege of photographing Mr. Yellow, the extraordinary male Northern Cardinal with yellow plumage discovered in Alabaster, Alabama. Described as a “One in a Million” bird, his remarkable appearance captured international attention and brought widespread interest to this exceptionally rare occurrence.

Nearly eight years later, his legacy continues. To date, 19 additional confirmed sightings of Northern Cardinals with yellow plumage across nine states have been documented:

Alabama • Florida • Georgia • Louisiana • Michigan • Mississippi • Missouri • Pennsylvania • Tennessee

The effort to identify and document additional yellow Northern Cardinals continues. If you have observed or photographed one, please share your photographs, location, and sighting date with The Yellow Cardinal. Visit the page for additional information and current sighting records.

Please share this post to help uncover additional sightings and continue the legacy of Mr. Yellow. Each share expands the reach of this effort and may help document another of these remarkable “One in a Million” birds.

It remains an honor to have photographed Mr. Yellow and to see the interest his discovery continues to inspire.

There’s something truly remarkable about looking up and witnessing the night sky transform before your eyes. Tonight’s eclipse was a beautiful reminder of just how extraordinary the universe can be and how meaningful it is to slow down and appreciate these rare celestial moments.

Some of the most memorable moments in photography are the ones nature creates without warning.

Tonight, Montevallo, Alabama, was treated to a breathtaking sunset, with the evening sky unfolding into an incredible display of color and light. Moments like this are a reminder of why I continue to find so much inspiration behind the camera.

Some experiences in wildlife photography extend far beyond the photograph itself. Photographing Luna, the leucistic Eastern Screech-Owl, was one of those experiences.

Luna’s striking white plumage is the result of leucism, a rare condition that reduces pigmentation in the feathers while typically preserving normal eye color. His nearly complete leucism makes him truly extraordinary, and he is recognized as the only known leucistic Eastern Screech-Owl, representing a remarkable variation in nature that few will ever have the opportunity to encounter.

As a wildlife photographer, I have always felt a special connection to documenting rare wildlife and extraordinary color variations. There is something deeply meaningful about raising the camera and realizing that the animal looking back through the lens represents something truly exceptional in the natural world.

I am incredibly grateful to Peace River Wildlife Center - PRWC for giving me the opportunity to photograph Luna and, more importantly, for the dedication and care they provide to him and countless other animals. Opportunities like this are a powerful reminder of why wildlife centers, conservation organizations, and the people behind them are so important.

I have photographed many animals that have left an impression on me, but Luna will always stand apart. Having the opportunity to document one of my favorite species in such an extraordinarily rare form was more than a photographic opportunity. It was a privilege and an experience I will never forget.

Stay tuned for more photographs of this truly stunning and extraordinary owl.

One of the greatest gifts of photography is the opportunity to witness the world from a perspective that few ever experience.

Photographing a rainbow from above the clouds was one of those unforgettable moments. Watching vibrant colors stretch across the sky while a blanket of clouds filled the horizon was a powerful reminder that some of nature's most extraordinary views can only be appreciated when we look at the world from a different perspective.

I'm incredibly grateful for opportunities like this that continue to inspire my passion for photography and remind me why I love capturing the beauty of the natural world.

I am honored to have both my photography and my first Focus on Pelham exhibit featured in the Pelham Pathway – June 2026, Issue 19 magazine.

The exhibit presented a collection of photographs highlighting the wildlife, natural landscapes, and environments that contribute to Pelham's distinctive character. It was a privilege to help showcase the natural beauty that makes our community so unique.

My sincere appreciation goes to the City of Pelham and The Pelham BEAT for making this opportunity possible. I am grateful for the chance to contribute to an initiative that celebrates Pelham and to have this work recognized in the city's official publication.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my photography and encouraged my creative journey. I look forward to continuing to document and share the places that make Pelham an exceptional community.

I am honored to have my photography featured by The Pelham BEAT as part of the Focus on Pelham exhibit at Pelham City Hall.

This collection highlights some of the places that define Pelham's unique character and celebrates the city's rich heritage during the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

My sincere gratitude to The Pelham Beat, the City of Pelham and everyone involved in bringing this exhibit to life. It is a privilege to contribute to a project that showcases the beauty of our community and the landmarks that make Pelham such a special place.

If you have the opportunity to visit Pelham City Hall, I hope you'll take a moment to view the exhibit. Thank you to everyone who has supported my photography and continues to encourage my creative journey.

Today, I'm celebrating some of the most extraordinary birds I've had the privilege to photograph at the Alabama Wildlife Center. Every owl species has its own unique adaptations, personality, and beauty, making each encounter behind the camera a truly memorable experience.

Photographing the Barred Owl, Barn Owl, Eurasian Eagle-Owl, Eastern Screech-Owl, and Great Horned Owl has given me an even greater appreciation for the remarkable diversity found within the owl family. From their distinctive appearances and behaviors to the important roles they play in our ecosystems, each species offers something truly extraordinary.

Owls play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, and organizations like the Alabama Wildlife Center work tirelessly to rehabilitate injured native birds while inspiring conservation through education. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to photograph these remarkable ambassadors and help share their stories through my lens.

Here's to celebrating these incredible nocturnal hunters and the dedicated people who work every day to protect them.

Happy International Owl Awareness Day!

Shelby, the majestic American Bald Eagle at the Alabama Wildlife Center in Oak Mountain State Park, Pelham, Alabama.

It was an incredible privilege to spend time photographing such an iconic ambassador for our nation's wildlife. Every detail, from those piercing eyes to the remarkable strength and elegance of each feather, is a powerful reminder of the resilience and beauty found in the natural world.

I'm deeply grateful to the Alabama Wildlife Center for the opportunity to document Shelby and the important work they do to educate the public and inspire wildlife conservation. Experiences like these continue to fuel my passion for sharing the beauty of wildlife through photography.
