With the sun behind the drone while spraying, you can see the swath of the spray. the drone is about 12 feet wide, but the spray swath is over 20 feet. There was drift reduction agent in the mix to minimize the amount of small particles that could drift and harm non-target plants outside the field and the wind was about 5 mph at the time. These fields were too wet and muddy for the farmer to get his tractor into without getting stuck and messing up the field. Drone spraying can still get the right agents onto your crops when they are needed.

We sprayed herbicide on some soybean fields Saturday near Batesburg. For those that aren't aware of the characteristics of spray when applied by drone, take a look at the plants on the ground to see that the chemical is pushed into the crops. These fields were too wet and muddy to get a tractor into without getting stuck and messing up the field. Drone spraying will still allow you to get the right agents onto your crops at the time you need them applied.

If you need to spray your fields for pests, but the fields are too wet for your tractor, drone spraying may be the answer.

Using drones to spray pesticides has a number of advantages. The drone can effectively spray any size fields, especially small fields that airplanes and helicopters can't get into. We don't touch the ground, so we can spray when the ground is wet and we won't get stuck or make ruts in your fields. Drones won't run over your crops and cause losses. The downward prop wash also forces the pesticide down into the crops and even stirs up the leaves to get the pesticide on the underside of the leaves where bugs like to hide. We can cover 5 acres in 10 minutes with the drone at a 2 gallon/acre rate, which is over 20 acres per hour.
