Slowly but surely, I've come out of the fog of the last few weeks.

I will never regret putting my grandmother first or spending those precious final days by her side. Being there with my mom, my sisters, and my grandfather is time I will always treasure.

To every client who didn't hesitate when I needed to reschedule your session—thank you. Your kindness, grace, and understanding meant more than you'll ever know.

Last week was one of the hardest of my life. But as the grief settles, I'm finding more and more joy in remembering the incredible woman she was.

My grandmother wasn't just an amazing Nana—she was a creator, a teacher, and an entrepreneur. In 1976, she co-founded Crafts-A-Plenty, a local craft store in Poolesville, MD that became a cornerstone of her community. At a time when it was still uncommon for women to own and operate businesses, she built one that not only succeeded but remained a thriving small business for 43 years until she retired. She spent decades teaching ceramics, painting, sewing, and countless other crafts, inspiring generations of children and adults to create with their own hands. Her creativity, generosity, and servant's heart touched thousands of lives.

As a small business owner myself, I realize now more than ever how much she shaped me. I watched her pour her heart into serving her community, building relationships, and creating something that lasted. She taught me that success isn't just measured by years in business—it's measured by the lives you impact along the way. I hope to carry that same legacy forward through my own business.

As much as I'll always miss her, I know she would want me to keep doing what I love.

So...I'm ready.
Ready to finish this summer strong. Ready for beautiful golden evenings, back-to-school smiles, seniors, families, and all the memories that fall brings. My calendar is open, and I'm booking end of summer & fall sessions now.

Thank you all for giving me the space to grieve & be with my family. Thank you for supporting my small business and allowing me to do what I love. I can't wait to see so many of you this fall, preserving the moments that one day become the stories your families tell for generations. ❤️

This summer has looked a little different than I expected.
It's been slower. It's been hotter. And honestly...it's been filled with moments that matter far more than my to-do list.
Much of my time lately has been spent with my grandparents. My grandmother has advanced dementia, and watching someone you love slowly lose pieces of their memory is heartbreaking in ways I can't fully describe.
But there's something beautiful I've learned through all of this.
Even when memories fade, feelings often don't.
She may not always know my name. She may not remember where she is. But she still responds to kindness. To a hand to hold. To a familiar voice. To someone simply sitting beside her. A smile.
As a photographer, that has changed the way I think about the images we create.
Photographs aren't just for remembering what someone looked like. They're reminders of how life felt. They're proof of the ordinary moments that someday become extraordinary. They're for our children, our grandchildren, and sometimes...for us.
If you've been waiting to update your family photos, let this be your gentle reminder that there doesn't have to be a perfect time.
This summer, I'm grateful for the slower pace because it has given me something I didn't know I needed: more time.
More time to listen to old stories.
More time to hold a hand.
More time to simply be present.
The work will always be there.
These moments won't.

One thing people are often surprised to learn about my sessions...
Very little of our time is actually spent saying, "Smile!"
Instead, we talk.
We play.
We walk.
We laugh.
We let kids be kids.
The goal isn't to create perfect poses.
It's to create genuine moments that feel like your family.
If you're worried your kids won't cooperate, your husband doesn't love photos, or you feel awkward in front of the camera...I promise you're not the first family to tell me that.
And somehow, those sessions almost always end up becoming favorites.
That's one of my favorite parts of what I get to do. ❤️

The older I get, the more I realize that photographs become less about how we looked...and more about how life felt.

The little hand that always reached for yours.
The laugh that made everyone else laugh too.
The way your child looked at you before they outgrew climbing into your lap.

These are the moments we can never recreate—but we can preserve them.

As a photographer, I'm incredibly grateful that families trust me to freeze these pieces of their story. Years from now, I hope these images remind you of ordinary days that turned out to be extraordinary.

Because confidence usually doesn’t show up first.
Showing up comes first.
Then confidence catches up.
I think we spend a lot of time waiting to feel ready before we move...
But most of the things that changed my life happened because I moved first.

Because people buy from people they know, like and trust… and we all know that saying.
But are we actually living it?
People want connection.
They want to know who they're supporting.
They want to know your story.
They want to know what you believe.
They want to know there is a real person behind the business.

You just need to keep showing up.

As a photographer, I get a front row seat to something really beautiful:
The little things.
The hand on her back.
The glance across the room.
The inside joke.
The way someone naturally reaches for the other person.
People think photos capture big moments.
But honestly?
The best images usually capture the ordinary things we don't even realize we're doing.
Because years from now, those little things become the things you miss.
And maybe that's true in marriage too.
Not the grand gestures.
The little things.
The coffee.
The conversations.
The support.
The consistency.

Relationships are not built in huge moments.
They're built in ordinary Tuesday moments.
A quick text.
A hug before work.
Listening when you're tired.
Asking a question.
Apologizing first.
Supporting what matters to them.
Doing the small thing you know makes their day easier.
We put so much pressure on ourselves to create big changes.
But maybe the next best thing isn't big at all.
Maybe it's simply choosing your person today in one small way.
Because love isn't usually built in grand gestures.
It's built in consistency.
