“winter”Global average of rising temperatures at 1.9°F compared to Alaska the fastest warming state with changes up to 6° F. During the warm winter months, I have come to appreciate the beauty that snow brings, filling in negative spaces as the elements invariably fill. Negative spaces, often overlooked externally, also increase internally with age. I find myself contemplating life (in a healthy mindset)in black and white, perceiving it as predominantly positive or negative. I imagine a world where everything were positive for a while, unaware that such a world would lack contrast. In reality, we cannot have one without the other. As I delve deeper into the various aspects of life, from the struggles that inevitably lead to death, leaving yet another negative space, I am faced with the choice of viewing losses as such or embracing the elements of change to reframe negative spaces as opportunities to appreciate the beauty in contrast.
