They’re only a newborn for 8 weeks.
Just 8.

Eight weeks of curling into my chest,
breathing those tiny little breaths,
fitting in the crook of my arm like they were made for it.

Eight weeks of the scrunch,
the sleepy whimpers,
the way their whole body tucks in
like they’re still remembering the safety of home inside me.

And then one day…
they stretch.
They open their eyes longer.
Their face changes.
And you realize
they’ll never be that tiny again.

So I hold them.
Even when I’m tired.
Even when the days blur together
and the nights feel endless.

Because I know this won’t last.
I know these 8 weeks won’t come back.
I know one day I’ll miss the weight of them on my chest,
the way they needed me in a way no one else ever will.

The newborn stage is short,
but the memory of it stays forever.
And I don’t want to miss a second
of the baby who will never be this little again.
