I’ve recently been reminded just how hard it is to work from home with a baby😅

& it’s made me think a lot about the younger version of me who was building this business.
When AOIP was still in its early years, I had my babies home with me full time and loved 4 hours away from my family . Loch was a toddler, Isla was a baby, and I breastfed both of them for three years,all while photographing clients, editing galleries, answering messages, marketing, running the business… all of it. Somehow, at the time, I never really thought of that as anything extraordinary.

I just did it

Lately I’ve had a few people ask me during sessions, “How did you build all of this?” And I never really know how to answer because when you’re the person living it, you don’t always see it from the outside.

Even my therapist recently pointed out how young I still am and how much I’ve built in a relatively short amount of time. And I realized… I don’t think I’ve ever really given myself credit for that???

Now here I am with another breastfed baby, easing my way back into shooting, currently without consistent childcare, trying to edit between naps and feedings and tiny hands reaching for my computer😭😵‍💫 I keep thinking…how in the actual hell did 22/23-year-old me do this with TWO of them and no employees?!

Today me has a whole team of incredible people I can lean on when I need help finishing something, answering something, or keeping the wheels turning.

She had herself. So this is just a little love letter to younger me. 🤍 I’m really proud of her.
I’m also SO excited to be behind the camera again. I didn’t realize how much I missed creating until I started shooting again, and it feels like I’m entering such a fun new chapter of this business.
Which brings me to this little reminder…

TWO YEARS LATER… I can finally say it. 😭

THE POOL HOUSE IS OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR 2027 BOOKINGS. I genuinely cannot believe I get to type that. When I started this project, I thought it would take about nine months. It took two years. Two years of designing. Changing things. Waiting. Re-designing. Contractors not showing up. Deadlines being pushed…and pushed…and pushed again.

There were clients I had planned to photograph here who I ultimately had to move, cancel or refund because construction simply wasn't finished when I was promised it would be. There were approximately 47 times I thought I might lose my actual mind. 😂

I didn't want to build another photography studio. I wanted to build an experience. I wanted it to feel like you had been dropped into a private, high-end European oasis without ever leaving Oklahoma. Every single detail I chose was intentional. The warm stone,the white roses spilling through the landscaping, the tall evergreens, the creamy neutral palette against all of that dark green, the pool and fountains, the striped umbrellas and loungers.

And then you walk inside… limewashed walls, hardwood floors, checkered floors, adorable kitchenette, a dark moody bathroom and shower that I am OBSESSED with!! & obviously I needed an outdoor shower. 😂

Instead of taking the profit from one of the biggest years of my business and putting it in my pocket, I put it here.Seven years into this business, I still believe the best thing I can spend money on is making what we offer women better. More beautiful.More creative. More unforgettable.

We've brought a handful of past clients out here while we practiced, experimented and figured out how we wanted to use the space. But we haven't actually opened it for booking. Until now.

We're looking for women who are willing to let us CREATE.
We want women who are excited to play in the water, lounge in the sun, get a little messy, try something different and help us create the kind of imagery I've been imagining throughout these entire two years.

this is going to be a really, really fun era to be part of.
Two years ago, this was drawings, Pinterest boards, dirt and a mildly delusional idea in my head.Now I get to photograph you here.
