I received a message the other day about a woman wanting to do a shoot. She just got out of a controlling relationship. She’s hurting, wanting to find herself again. I told her now might not be the time, but when she’s ready, we’re going to make some awesome photos only for her that he is never going to see. Let’s do this.

Years ago, I did a series of sessions for women that were reclaiming their bodies back after traumatic abuse. It was a powerful series. Every story resonated with me, deep down, lodged in the marrow of my bones. I feel that this image is a standout for the purpose of coming out of the dark and into the light.
