What should we wear to our Fall photoshoot session? This is the most common question I get this time of year! Over the years, some of my clients have done an INCREDIBLE job coordinating outfits especially when there are multiple kids. Here are some guidelines and suggestions from your family photographer on how to style and coordinate your family’s outfits for your photoshoot!

Start With One Outfit You Love

Instead of choosing everyone’s outfit at once, start with one person.

I usually recommend starting with mom’s outfit because it can help set the overall color palette and style for the session.

Choose something you feel beautiful and comfortable in— Once you have that outfit, build everyone else’s outfits around it.

Fall is the perfect season for warm, earthy tones. Some of my favorite colors for fall family photos include:

* Cream
* Ivory
* Beige
* Camel
* Tan
* Rust
* Terracotta
* Muted mustard
* Olive
* Warm brown
* Soft denim
* Dusty blue

Pick 3–5 colors that work well together and build your outfits around those shades.

The goal is for the colors to complement one another without looking overly coordinated.
