Happy holidays from my family to yours this year.

I will be finishing out my remaining sessions and then going on maternity leave as our family continues to grow this spring 🍼🩵

I’m so excited to start posting more of this past year and some beautiful sessions and memories captured. So thankful for all the families and couples I’ve met or reunited with this year.

Some b+w shots from the end of this session where we moved to the field and let the boys just play!

Photographers:

Finding the flow of a session is different based on every family. It’s a great idea to always try to get the priority photos and shots done first if the kids are up for it and then give small play breaks in between.

If the kids aren’t ready and feeling a little shy/not wanting to smile you can start with playing or movement with their parents so they warm up a bit before you try to have them smile!

If you’re at a location and walking around with young kids it’s always fun to make it an adventure. What will we find at the next spot. Telling them about the next cool thing we’ll see and get to take pictures near.

You always have to just play and adapt off the kids and where they’re at. When I worked in an infant toddler room something that will always stick with me is that you have to meet each child where they’re at. I think that mindset has really helped me guide sessions along.

My favorite people to capture will always be my family. It refuels my love of photography. My almost five year old isn’t big on her picture being taken right now but my 9 month old is still at the age where he’s happy as a clam in front of the camera. I know my kids will go through many phases but I love the times I can grab my camera and freeze the small moments. ✨
