The male Osprey in this picture is just about finished eating the head of the fish off. Once that is done, he will fly it to the nest so his mate can fly off with it and finish the rest while he sits on the eggs and guards the nest until her return. It's truly a beautiful thing to see. If nature can work as a pair in such harmony why can't some of us human do the same 🤷🏽‍♀️

Mommy Osprey and her baby hollering to the daddy Osprey for food. You can tell the difference between an adult Osprey and a juvenile one by their eyes. Am adult has bright yellow eyes, where as the juvenile has orangish-reddish eyes.

When an Osprey dives into the water, a third eyelid—called a Nictitating Membrane—closes immediately to protect the bird’s eyes. This semi-transparent membrane is a pale, icy-blue color and allows some areas of light and dark to be seen even underwater. (You can see the Nictitating Membrane in both eyes in this picture).

I was on my way out the door when a flock of Cedar Waxwings caught my eye. So I had to turn around and get my camera and snap as many photos as I could while the opportunity presented itself 😁📸

I was walking along at a local farm and in the distance I saw a different bird than I usually see foraging on the ground. Upon further inspection I realized it was a Northern Flicker!! I have been trying to photograph one of these for the longest 😁. My next goal is to get a picture of one in flight because their feathers are sooo beautiful when in flight.

I was driving down the highway on the way to photograph some local birds when I spotted this juvenile Red Shouldered Hawk relaxing on electrical wires as they are known to do.

Cedar Waxwing taking a break from eating berries to strike a pose for me 😁😁
Interesting fact: Cedar Waxwings are one of the few birds that specialize in eating fruit. They can survive on fruit alone for several months.
